In this episode, Julia talks with single mum, columnist, social commentator and author of new book Out There: A survival guide for dating in midlife, Kerri Sackville.
Five years ago Kerri's marriage of 17 years ended. When she started dating again she made every mistake known to womankind. She swiped right on scammers and fakers, spent weeks fruitlessly texting, agreed to long dates with the wrong men, and got involved with hot messes and commitment-phobes.
She also met amazing men and went on sensational first dates, and learned how to navigate the minefield that is dating in midlife. In her new book, she shares all her wisdom with us.
In this episode of the Single Mother Survival Guide Podcast, we chat about the book and I pick Kerri's brain on dating in midlife. We discuss what it felt like for Kerri to put herself out there in the dating world after a 17-year relationship, how she knew when she was ready, the red flags we should ALL be aware of, her dating guidelines, why dating is not always the solution, and so much more. We also discuss her own journey in becoming a single mother, what she loves about being a single mum, and her advice for other single mums.
Kerri writes regularly for Sunday Life, SMH Online, and news.com.au on topics ranging from sex and relationships to parenting, mental health, and current affairs. She also makes regular appearances on television and radio. Along with her new book, she is also the author of two other books: When My Husband Does The Dishes... (2011) and The Little Book Of Anxiety - Confessions from A Worried Life (2012).
This episode is a MUST listen for anyone dating or considering dating in the future!
