In this episode of the Single Mother Survival Guide Podcast, Julia talks with Farrah Millar. Farrah was diagnosed with stage 3 breast cancer when her daughter was just 14 months old and her son was less than 24 hours old. Recovering from a caesarean section, Farrah began 4 months of intense chemotherapy, and then further treatment (including a double mastectomy), all whilst parenting two babies and dealing with the breakdown of her relationship.
We discuss her journey over the past two years - how she dealt with her cancer diagnosis and treatment whilst looking after her children, the downward spiral of her relationship, winning 2016 Mum of the Year, the amazing work that Breast Cancer Care WA and Cancer Council do, and the support she got from these wonderful organisations, the importance of breast self examinations and breast cancer awareness, handling single motherhood whilst battling a major health issue, what she has learnt through her cancer journey and her journey of becoming a single mother, and LOTS MORE!
