Slam the Gavel welcomes Janis James, an award-winning social campaigner who works closely with central ( UK and Scottish) Governments on child safety campaigns.
Jan and her team are passionate about keeping children safe from harm and they have a strong track record in running highly effective, evidence=based social marketing campaigns across the UK since 2001.
Working on many societal issues over the years, Jan is clear that Parental Alienation is the biggest child protection scandal she has ever encountered in her lifetime.
She has committed her non-profit Community Interest Company, Good Egg Safety CIC to raising public visibility of parental Alienation and has worked entirely unfunded because she says it literally scorches her soul.
Parental Alienation is a global issue which causes extreme harm to children and Good Egg has aligned with 54 proactive NGO's in 33 countries and across 5 continents to help raise public awareness--led by visionary Associate Professor and researcher Dr. Jennifer Harman Ph.D.
In her interview, Jan spells out the extreme harm caused by parent/child attachment pathology to both vulnerable children and their victim parents. It has detrimental effects that traumatize both for the rest of their lives.
Of equal importance is the damage this causes to society where child mental health disorders are escalating to terrifying proportions. In the UK, one in six children now have a mental health disorder according to the NHS (Oct. 2002)
Additionally, 27% of young women aged 17-22 also have probable mental health disorders. These women may soon be mothers so the potential for trans-generational harm is increasing exponentially.
Research undertaken by Public Health Wales in 2017 found that parental separation was the singly highest biggest causation factor leading to Adverse Childhood Experiences (ACEs). This research also found that 82% of these children who had critical ACE levels of four or above, had been separated from a parent. Jan asserts that all children, in the absence of abuse, need and want both parents in their lives. They need the extra care, love and nurture that parents offer to them and to have this is ALWAYS IN THEIR BEST INTEREST.
