Claudia Ovalles Speaks Out On #itsnotacivilmatter And The Awareness Of Custodial Interference

Slam the Gavel podcast welcomes back Claudia Ovalles to the podcast. Claudia was last on the podcast Season 2, Episode 46 and Season 4, Episodes 33, 86 and 130. She had great news to tell listeners that in Texas HB 969 will take affect September 1, 2023 has been passed on a municipality enacting an ordinance on creating a civil penalty for child custody orders. This will take affect September 1, 2023.
     We discussed the awareness of the campaign, #itsnotacivilmatter and the importance of accountability for parents as well as law enforcement.  #itsnotacivilmatter is the number one response by law enforcement. This will be changing. ACCOUNTABILITY is coming and it is CRIMINAL to withhold a child from the other parent. This is a FELONY and each state has to understand their laws.
     We also talked about Time Taken, Time Back, SB718, and how Robert Garza implemented this bill and is working on getting it into other states as well.
    October is Domestic Violence Awareness Month. Law Enforcement needs training on both these bills as these Custodial laws have been on the books for 40 years. This has a drastic affect on the children going through this, as they need to see both parents, provided that abuse is not in the picture.
