Peggi Wegener Introduces TRE

Slam the Gavel welcomes Peggi Wegener. She is a Licensed Mental Health Counselor in Florida and has been a psychotherapist for 35 years.  She has extensive experience in suicide prevention/crisis intervention and adult mental health and wellness including the treatment of stress, depression, anxiety, abuse/trauma, grief and more.  She obtained certification as a TRE Provider in 2017 and was invited to become a TRE Provider Trainer.  She began that certification process in 2020 and expects to complete it in 2022.  
     Peggi loves teaching TRE because, not only is it effective in reducing muscle tension, calming the nervous system and building resiliency, it is also self-empowering and self-initiating -- once learned, a person can continue to use TRE on his/her own without being dependent on a practitioner. 
      Using TRE at least twice a week as maintenance for her own nervous system Peggi has experienced better sleep, more patience with normal irritations, and less physical symptoms of stress.
      Stress, tension and trauma are neurophysiological processes, and our bodies have a marvelous alarm system that responds to danger (real or imagined).  Once that alarm goes off, our bodies respond by hyperarousing certain systems that are critical to our survival (muscles, heart, lungs, key hormones) and turns down or off certain systems that are unnecessary if we are “about to die” such as sleep, processing food, immune system, sex drive, AND complex thinking.     
    The alarm system also has a built in reset mechanism that restores functions to their relaxed ready processes which are trembling and shaking.  All mammals tremble and shake as they recover from stress.  
     By 10 years of age, most humans have gotten the message not to do that because it means you are weak, crazy, weird, or broken.  In so doing, we trap stress and tension and trauma patterns in our neurophysiology.
     TRE is a tool that, when done regularly, has the potential to unwind the deep muscular patterns of stress, tension and trauma thus restoring our systems to their relaxed ready processes.
