Tonight’s Sleep Meditation with Karissa has been created to help those who struggle to let go into sleep. We are now deep into the winter and all of nature is in hibernation. It’s a time of introspection and quiet. But, of course, it’s not always easy to access this. Whether trouble sleeping is occasional for you, or more of a chronic issue, tonight we’re going to all sink into that quiet and introspective place together as we meditate on the Winter Solstice.

Meditation can induce a mental state that is deeply quiet and calm. It’s the mental analogue to the slowing down of metabolism that occurs in hibernating animals. The mental exertion of entertaining a compulsive string of thoughts and their associated thoughts are reduced. The gap between thoughts widens and the breath slows down. In the stillness between breaths, there is an opportunity for mental silence.
