Why Dooku Taught Qui-Gon to REJECT Yoda and USE Fear [canon]

Why did Count Dooku go against the Jedi code and have Qui-Gon use his fear? Yoda told him to never EVER use fear, as it leads to the dark side...why would this Jedi train his padawan like this...?
