Why We're Getting an Obi-Wan Series INSTEAD of a Movie

In light of the recent news and uproar from happy Star Wars fans (myself included), many are wondering why the Obi-Wan Kenobi spinoff isn't going to be a movie like he deserves. Why is it a show?
