Between 1780 and 1814 Paris would finally recognize it had a body problem. Their graveyards were full. They had been piling bodies in the walls of existing structures and even creating standing structures to house the recently and not so recently deceased. It has been said that there was nowhere in Paris that did not smell of decomposing human bodies.
