“A cave of wonders...”
Separate licensing deals meant that both of the major 16-bit consoles received a bespoke game to tie-in with Disney's 1992 animated feature, Aladdin. Dave Perry and his Virgin team employed actual Disney animators, Western sensibility and a scimitar for the Mega Drive/Genesis incarnation. Meanwhile in Japan, a pre-Resident Evil Shinji Mikami and his Capcom crew conjured up a more fanciful, pastel shaded interpretation of the source. Leon, Brian, Leah, Tony and a company of correspondents compare and contrast the two different, yet curiously similar approaches.
