For the first time in American history, the House ousted its speaker
Eight House Republicans, siding with the House Democrats, voted to remove Kevin McCarthy.
Those eight republican 'rebels' were quickly attacked by pundits and members of their own party, accused of trying to create 'chaos' or putting their own ambitions before the country.
A day after the vote, One of those GOP House members who voted to oust McCarthy, Congressman Tim Burchett (R-TN), joined host Dave Anthony on the FOX News Rundown to defend his historic vote.
Burchett explained his vote and responded to his GOP and media critics who he said are over exaggerating the impact of Kevin McCarthy's ouster. He explained why he is confident a new Speaker will be chosen quickly and Congress can avoid a shutdown before the November deadline.
We made edits for time and thought you might like to hear our entire conversation with Rep. Tim Burchett. On today's FOX News Rundown Extra, you'll hear even more about what happened before last Tuesday's historic vote and why he thinks new House leadership will be better for the country.
