The Cultural & Legal Impact of The O.J. Simpson Trial

33 min • 13 juni 2024

It has been thirty years since the crimes of O.J. Simpson. On June 12th, 1994, Nicole Brown-Simpson and her friend Ron Goldman were murdered in her condo in Brentwood, California. The prime suspect was her ex-husband, former football star and actor O.J. Simpson. He was later acquitted of the crime in what became one of the first criminal trials to gain overwhelming national attention. Host of the FOX True Crime Podcast and co-host of Outnumbered, Emily Compagno joins the Rundown to discuss how the trial impacted American culture, the ways that it changed criminal procedures, and why the crimes gave the nation greater awareness of the treatment of victims.

Eight suspected terrorists were arrested this weekend as part of a multi-city sting operation. The Tajikistan nationals allegedly crossed the US-Mexico border illegally but passed background checks at the time. Lawmakers were already concerned with the growing number of people from the Terrorist Screening Database entering the U.S. through the southern border and the threat of another mass terror attack. Congressman and former NYPD detective Anthony D'Esposito (NY-4) shares why the Biden administration's new border executive order is "not a solution" and stresses the importance of 'see something, say something.'

Plus, commentary by columnist David Marcus.
