Former President Trump is facing a new legal roadblock: he must post over $450 million for bond in his New York civil case due to fines for manipulating property valuations. If the former President is unable to secure the funds for the bond, the courts could move to seize his properties, like Trump Tower, as collateral in the case. Law professor at George Washington University Jonathan Turley joins the Rundown to explain why the judge in the case was able to hand down such a large penalty, why he feels that the fine is not proportional to the crime, and how some of the other legal cases against the former President could factor into the 2024 election.
The House voted 352-65 on a bill that would ban TikTok if their Chinese parent company, ByteDance, doesn’t sell the app to an American owner. Now, the bill awaits a vote in the Senate.
