Let’s make some LSD! Join us this week as guest Damon is with us to discuss this special season 3 episode of Fringe! We also, of course, hear from some of our wonderful listeners like Geoff (xforce11), Anna (not Torv), ShelkyBean, Michael, and Eric (or Eric from Pennsylvania as you prefer). By the way, speaking of Eric, join us next time when we cover what is essentially the first part of a three-part finale and will be joined by Eric!

We hope that you will stowaway with us on the Fringe train as we discuss this unique episode of Fringe - unique in that Anna Torv is not playing Olivia Dunham or an Olivia Dunham alternate but rather the man behind the curtain himself - William Bell (or Bellivia or Spolive as you prefer). We also finally get to meet the Blueverse version of Lincoln Lee (or Special Agent Hottie as you prefer), and we discuss what we like and maybe don’t like as much on rewatch. You’ll also hear some great feedback as always from feedbackers like Geoff (xforce11), Eric (or Eric from Pennsylvania as you prefer), Anna (not Torv), Erin, and Patty from Canadia! Join us next time when we return to the Redverse and catch up with Foelivia’s pregnancy in “Bloodline”!

Come float with us (we all float down here!) this episode as we discuss “Os” (Fringe episode 3.16), a (mostly) stand-alone episode in which a scientist tries to cure his son’s physical disability using a combination of two rare, dense metals that, when administered together into the blood, makes people float. We discuss how happy we are to see Olivia so happy, the heartbreaking parallels between Walter and Dr. Krick (as well as Peter and Michael), the episode’s shocking final scene, and, of course share some amazing listener feedback from feedbackers like Geoff (xforce11), Eric (or Eric from Pennsylvania as you prefer), Anna (not Torv), Patty from Canadia, and ShelkyBean! Join us next time when we get even more amazing Bellivia content from Anna (is Torv) and meet Blueverse Lincoln Lee!
Also, we got to meet up in person recently, so tune in at the end for some bonus content if you care to hear us nerd out over our recent trip to Disneyland!

Joined by our loyal listener Missnet, we are once again rewinding back to 1985 for this episode as we discuss “Subject 13,” a flashback episode of Fringe that shows us some of the immediate aftermath of the events that we saw unfold in “Peter” last season. We praise Orla Brady’s performance and discuss the various threads of the show’s mythology that are explored in this episode. We also touch upon some of the inconsistencies that this episode presents but all agree that it’s a phenomenal episode nonetheless. We also, of course, hear from wonderful feedbackers such as Anna (not Torv), Geoff (xforce11), Eric (or Eric from Pennsylvania as you prefer), ShelkyBean, and Patty from Canadia! We are joined by Anna (not Torv) for this episode as we discuss Fringe’s Valentine’s Day episode, “6B”! This is such a great episode that Chris and Darrell feel is even better than we remember it being! Join us and Anna as we discuss some of the interesting parallels between each season’s 14th episode so far as well as some of the parallels between Olivia/Peter and Alice/Derek. We touch upon some of the various aspects of this episode that at least one of us had forgotten about - such as how the episode ties directly into “The Ghost Network” from early season 1 and also briefly shifts to the Redverse at the very end. Be sure to stay tuned for some wonderful listener feedback from Geoff (xforce11), Eric (or Eric from Pennsylvania as you prefer), ShelkyBean, Matt, and Patty from Canadia! Join us next time when we, joined by regular listener Missnet, go back to the ‘80s for “Subject 13”!

We finally return to the Redverse for this episode and are joined once again by Mark (who previously joined us for our “Grey Matters” discussion)! Listen in to hear our thoughts on this episode, including but not limited to our thoughts on Walternate being made a bit more complex. We also get some great feedback from listeners like Geoff (xforce11), Eric (or Eric from Pennsylvania as you prefer), Erin, ShelkyBean, and Patty from Canadia! Join us along with Rachel (whose voice you will likely agree is just awesome) as we discuss the penultimate episode of Fringe’s second season! Returning to the main Fringe canon, we find out where Peter went after disappearing at the end of “The Man from the Other Side” - none other than the literal northwest, Washington State! Here he meets Sheriff Ann Mathis (one of the show’s best episodic characters played wonderfully by The Goonies’ Martha Plimpton) as he helps her investigate a string of murders that feel uncomfortably close to Newton’s M.O. Meanwhile, Olivia and Astrid help Walter deal with the aftermath of Peter leaving. Rachel helps us untangle all of the references that this episode has to the classic show Twin Peaks, and we get wonderful feedback from new feedbacker Prati, Eric from Pennsylvania, Patty from Canadia, Rory, Erin, Geoff, and ShelkyBean! Geoff (xforce11) joins us for this episode to discuss the first of four especially whacky Fringe episodes (of which we would get one each season from here on out). In this one, Walter, deeply troubled after the disappearance of Peter, tells Ella a story in which Olivia is a noir detective investigating the disappearance of Peter after he stole Walter’s mechanical heart, except, as Walter tells Ella more than once, things are not quite as they seem. We talk about our thoughts on the short musical numbers, the noir atmosphere, and the many anachronisms. We also hear from listeners like you, including Rachel, Eric from Pennsylvania, Erin, Rory, ShelkyBean, and Damon! Be sure to join us next time when we travel to Washington State to see what Peter is up to and meet one of the show’s best episodic characters, Martha Plimpton’s Sheriff Mathis! The Man From the Other Side is (at least in correct people’s opinions) one of the best episodes of the entire series of Fringe! Something that we had been anticipating for such a long time - the culmination of the secret that Walter has been keeping for so long and it finally being exposed to Peter. In this climactic, pivotal episode (which really, in a lot of ways, leads fairly directly into the incredible two-part season finale in a few episodes), Peter finally inadvertently discovers that he is from the Redverse, and the scene that follows is one of the best acted, most emotional scenes of the entire series, with absolutely top-notch acting from both Josh Jackson and, of course, John Noble! Join us this week as we discuss this amazing episode with longtime member of the Golden Spiral Media community, Cory Metcalfe! We also get some fantastic feedback from listeners - including Geoff (xforce11), Eric from Pennsylvania, Rory, ShelkyBean, and Erin! It’s a beautiful episode with a powerful ending that sets the stage for Peter finally learning the truth of his origin in the next episode. We are so excited to finally be talking about this phenomenal episode of Fringe - the highly anticipated episode in which we finally get the story of how and why Peter was abducted from the Redverse. When last we left our heroes, Olivia’s “glimmer” ability kicked in just before she and Peter went on their very first date, leading her to realize that Peter is originally from the Redverse. Walter pleads with Olivia to not tell him, and in this episode (which features a fun, synthy ‘80s rendition of the theme music), we are taken back to 1985 as Walter sits down with Olivia to tell her the story. Just about everything about this episode is perfect. The cinematography makes it seem almost movie-like, and John Noble, Blair Brown, and Orla Brady all give Emmy-worthy performances!
Join us as well as returning co-host Michael London of Fringe Connections as we discuss all of that and so much more! This episode is kind of a special one for us because of how much we love Cameron Monaghan’s work on Gotham, so we are so excited to share this discussion with you! Tune in as we share our favorite moments from this “myth-alone” episode and our memories of whether or not we picked up on the twist before it was revealed. We also share how, even though we really enjoy this episode, we wish that it had come back into play later in the series. Fringe gives us yet another case of the week with no apparent ties to the overarching mythology, so how do we feel about this one? Listen as we share our thoughts on this Fringe episode which… isn’t quite as down to earth as what we had come to expect. We talk about our favorite moments from the episode such as Broyles’ wholesome interaction with the young child at the restaurant and our appreciation for the show diving deeper into Broyles’ backstory. We also share some amazing feedback from listeners like you, feedback from Ross, Geoff (xforce11), Eric, and Patty from Canadia! Although it sort of abandons the overarching mythology again and gives us what is more or less a standalone story, “Dream Logic” is still a strong episode of Fringe, giving us some great character moments and symbolism. We (Chris and Darrell) share our thoughts about this episode and what we first thought about it vs. what we think now. We share our favorite moments such as Olivia opening up to Peter about the death of Charlie, the episode’s many uses of colors such as red and green, and so much more! Be sure to stay tuned for the entire episode because we also share some great feedback from listeners including Eric, ShelkyBean, Pavla aka Polla, Geoff, and Patty from Canadia! Momentum can be deferred, but it must always be paid back in full, and, after the last two episodes of the season, this episode certainly pays it back! We finally get one of the big season finale cliffhangers resolved - what Olivia and William Bell talked about in the Redverse - and also get a plethora of burning questions answered. It all comes to a head (see what we did there?) when our hero is broken and defeated and the bad guys have seemingly won. This is such a HUGE episode of the Fringe mythology, and we share both audio feedback and written feedback from several listeners who share their thoughts about it, including Rory, Geoff (xforce11), Francleigh, Patty from Canadia, Eric from Pennsylvania, ShelkyBean, and Erin! We reflect on whether or not we initially suspected that the case would tie into the Observers and how this episode ties into season 5. We also discuss how the last couple of scenes really help save the episode for us, and we share feedback from Rory, M.G., Patty from Canadia, ShelkyBean, and Musketeer Dad. It’s finally time to discuss the infamous Mole-Rat Man episode, the episode that initially went down as many fans’ least favorite episode. How does it hold up fourteen years later? Do we still not care a whole lot for this episode, or do we now look back at it more fondly? We speculate as to why this episode didn’t initially go over well and, of course, share listener feedback from Rory, Patty from Canadia and her daughter Emily, ShelkyBean, Erin, and Juan! Unearthed from Fringe’s first season is this bonus episode which is, well, an episode. While it is a complete standalone story and really nothing all that special, it does give us a tiny bit of insight into some of the characters’ mindsets and their beliefs, and we both agree that the acting from guest star Alice Kremelberg is really great. We share what we think some of the episode’s most memorable moments are, and we also get feedback submissions from Geoff (xforce11), Michael, Rory, and Patty from Canadia! There’s more than one of everything, and that include our hosts this week. We have not two hosts talking about the climactic first season finale but once again we have three! This time, Chris and Darrell are joined by a voice that listeners of the original run of The Fringe Podcast will definitely recognize - the one and only Clint! In Fringe’s first season finale, Olivia notices a connection between The Pattern incidents while Walter and Peter retrieve the only thing that can stop Jones from his ultimate plan.
Everything comes to a head when a final confrontation with Jones (in this timeline anyway) leads Olivia to finally coming face-to-face with William Bell. We discuss our favorite moments from this finale, things that we noticed for the first time on this rewatch, and so much more. We also get feedback submissions from Geoff (xforce11), Michael London of Fringe Connections, Rory, and Patty from Canadia! If you would like to be part of the feedback section in the future, be sure to hit us up via one of the contact methods listed below. Chris and Darrell take the road not taken with guest Michael London (creator of Fringe Connections) as we discuss this phenomenal penultimate episode of Fringe’s first season! Olivia is once again confronted by her past as a Cortexiphan subject when she starts having strange visions of alternate versions of events and colleagues, and, much to our delight, we get to see Harris make a fiery exit! This is such a great penultimate episode because of all the setup for the finale with which we’re left, and feedback submissions from Linda, Geoff (xforce11), Rory, and Patty from Canadia all talk about how powerful this episode is. We take a quick break from the Cortexiphan story to discuss a vampire… sort of. This vampire is engineered by science and must feed on spinal fluid rather than blood. (That’s Fringe for you!) We discuss our memories of this episode and how, for some reason, we both had forgotten about its ties to ZFT. Get ready as we unleash our discussion of this episode of Fringe! We both agree that, despite its dubious science, this is a decent stand-alone episode, and we, as always, think back to our thoughts when we first saw it and whether or not we feel any differently now. We talk a lot about the character development and growth that we see from Walter and discuss whether his heroic act at the end is truly heroic or just another display of hubris. We reflect back on our initial thoughts when we first watched this episode, including wondering whether or not the Child (also known at the time, by us at least, as CBK) was an Observer and what that implied if so, if Olivia disliked yellow M&Ms because they reminded her of Cotexiphan, what the deal is with Eliot Michaels, and so forth! We have eagerly been waiting to discuss "Ability" for months because it’s that good, undoubtedly one of the best episodes of Fringe’s first season if not the best. What’s that noise? It’s not the sound of a brain-melting computer virus but rather a discussion between us and guest co-host Geoff (xforce11) on this rather polarizing episode of Fringe! This episode takes a break from the mythology and gives us a stand-alone case of the week involving a man exacting revenge on those he holds responsible for ruining his life by liquifying the brains of their loved ones, and we discuss what parts of this episode resonate with us more than others do, our initial thoughts about Rachel’s motives vs. how we feel now, our continued feelings around Sanford Harris (here is a hint - we cannot stand him), how all three of us agree that the conflict between Olivia and Peter is the best part of this episode, and so much more! You are bound to enjoy our discussion of this high-octane episode of Fringe! Although we both agree that the cliffhanger from the last episode is wrapped up a bit too early here and that the exposition is a bit too heavy-handed, this episode moves at anything but a sluggish pace and left us with plenty of new questions when it first aired thirteen years ago. What was ZFT trying to accomplish by killing immunologists with this super-sized slug (which apparently wasn’t actually a cold virus according to Walter’s lab notes)? Why did they abduct Olivia? What was the spinal tap for? We were definitely like a question machine! We discuss these plot points and also share several pieces of feedback from you, our listeners, including feedback from Funk, Geoff (xforce11), Patty from Canadia, and Emily (TheSoggyNacho)! Hosted by Darrell and Chris, the podcast is a revival of sorts of the award-winning The Fringe Podcast, only this time, we're reflecting back on the series as a whole nearly a decade after its epic conclusion in January of 2013, bringing you bi-weekly discussions of each and every episode of Fringe's run of 100 episodes! Beginning, of course, with the show's pilot episode which aired on September 9, 2008, we share our favorite moments from the episode and reflect on our reactions and theories when we first saw it, agreeing that the Fringe pilot is one of the best pilot episodes of any show ever. In the years since Fringe wrapped, Fringe fans have asked us many times to create a rewatch podcast. That time has finally arrived. We are committing to a muti-year project where we will rewatch the show, break down the episodes, and invite Fringe fans to participate along with us. It’s called: The Fringe Podcast Rewatch. The Fringe Podcast Rewatch is a podcast for Fringe fans who have already watched the series at least once. Starting Wednesday, May 18 we’ll rewatch one episode of Fringe, then the following Wednesday, we’ll record a podcast episode covering that Fringe episode. We’ll repeat this pattern each Wednesday until we’ve rewatched all 100 episodes of the show.
