Today's episode talks about a lot of things that happened and are happening on our homestead! Make sure to follow me on Instagram to share even more in my homestead journey, but here's the things I touch on today:
CHICKENS
- too many illnesses and injuries this month and how we plan to avoid them in the future
- switching feed from Scratch and Peck to Grubbly Farms (not affiliated with either)
BEES
- both our hives made it through winter
- April hive check where we will most likely need to add more space for them to store nectar and pollen
GARDEN
- germination in the first half of our raised beds is going well, but could be better
- my new method for seed sowing in the beds to hopefully get a better germination rate
- adding a fence panel to block wind
- perfecting the low tunnel plastic
- thinning out seedlings from our first round of planting
- starting potatoes in grow bags
- deciding on our final varieties of tomatoes, cucumbers and peppers that we will buy as seedlings from local farms
