Today's episode talks about a lot of things that happened and are happening on our homestead!  Make sure to follow me on Instagram to share even more in my homestead journey, but here's the things I touch on today:

CHICKENS

  • too many illnesses and injuries this month and how we plan to avoid them in the future
  • switching feed from Scratch and Peck to Grubbly Farms (not affiliated with either)

BEES

  • both our hives made it through winter
  • April hive check where we will most likely need to add more space for them to store nectar and pollen

GARDEN

  • germination in the first half of our raised beds is going well, but could be better
  • my new method for seed sowing in the beds to hopefully get a better germination rate
  • adding a fence panel to block wind
  • perfecting the low tunnel plastic
  • thinning out seedlings from our first round of planting
  • starting potatoes in grow bags
  • deciding on our final varieties of tomatoes, cucumbers and peppers that we will buy as seedlings from local farms
