Marc from The Toys of A Time Gone By joins me to discuss our Physical Media Collections! Marc shows off some of his Stephen King movies while I show off some of the Godzilla films in my collection. Laserdiscs also make an appearance!
We take on Longlegs! Osgood Perkins, the son of Anthony Perkins, directs Longlegs! Nicolas Cage stars as Longlegs! Blair Underwood of Deep Impact and Gattaca fame also stars. How does Longlegs compare with films such as Psycho, Seven, and Silence of the Lambs?Plot: In pursuit of a serial killer, an FBI agent uncovers a series of occult clues that she must solve to end his terrifying killing spree.
We make it to Robert Eggers Nosferatu! Starring Bill Skarsgard, Lily-Rose Depp, Willem Dafoe, Ralph Ineson, Aaron Taylor-Johnson, and Nicholas Hoult! This one caused me to rethink Herzog's Nosferatu! Marc joins us from The Toys of a Time Gone By! Brandon and Marc have a disagreement about the ending of the film. This is a good-looking, well-shot film. How does this stack up to the other versions of Nosferatu? How does it stack up to other Dracula and Vampire films? Let the long-awaited discussion commence, and let us know what you think!
Plot: A gothic tale of obsession between a haunted young woman and the terrifying vampire infatuated with her, causing untold horror.
Taglines: Succumb to the darkness.
Brandon and I are joined by Marc of the Toys of a Time Gone By to discuss the other Nosferatu remake...Nosferatu: A Symphony of Horror (2023)! This one stars Doug Jones as Orlok. You may remember Jones from Guillermo del Toro's Hellboy, The Shape of Water, and Pan's Labyrinth. Jones also appeared in Star Trek: Discovery, and Hocus Pocus. Could this be the superior Nosferatu remake? Is it better than Herzog's version or Egger's version? Check them out for yourself and let us know which one you prefer! Plot: Vampire Count Orlok expresses interest in a new residence and real estate agent Hutter's wife. Taglines: The Vampire Lives
Before we tackle Robert Eggers' Nosferatu (2024), Brandon and I take on Werner Herzog's Nosferatu the Vampyre (1979). Klaus Kinski stars as Count Dracula, not Count Orlock in this version. Isabelle Adjani stars as Lucy Harker. Kinski played Renfield opposite Christopher Lee's Dracula in Jess Franco's Count Dracula (1970)!
1979 was a big year for Dracula! There were three films featuring Bram Stoker's Vampire Count...Dracula directed by John Badham starring Frank Langella, Love at First Bite directed by Stan Dragoti starring George Hamilton, and Nosferatu the Vampyre! Join us on our Nosferatu journey and let us know your favorite! Plot: Count Dracula moves from Transylvania to Wismar, spreading the Black Plague across the land. Only a woman pure of heart can bring an end to his reign of horror. Taglines: Nosferatu...he who is doomed to wander alone in darkness. Nosferatu...he who is condemned to destroy even those whom he loves. Nosferatu...a tale of seduction in the dark night of the soul. It is fear and fun. It is a scream of horror and a cry of delight. It is Nosferatu, the Vampyre. ...He who is doomed to wander alone in darkness. ...He who is condemned to destroy even those whom he loves.
Brandon and I take a bite out of the Kit Harrington Werewolf movie, The Beast Within! The Beast Within reunites Harrington with his fellow Game Of Thrones castmate, James Cosmo. You may also remember Cosmo from Mel Gibson's Braveheart, Troy and Highlander! With the new Universal Wofman movie coming in January of 2025, is this a good monster film to hold us over until the time of the release of Wolfman? Marc from the Toys of a Time Gone by joins us to discuss a few of his favorite werewolf movies! Plot: After a series of strange events leads her to question her family's isolated life on a fortified compound deep in the English wilds, 10-year-old Willow follows her parents on one of their secret late-night treks to the forest's heart. Plot: When Earth becomes uninhabitable in the future, a farmer and ex-NASA pilot, Joseph Cooper, is tasked to pilot a spacecraft, along with a team of researchers, to find a new planet for humans. We present Frankenstein! The 1992 TV Movie version starring Patrick Bergin as Dr. Victor Frankenstein! Yes...the Patrick Bergin from Sleeping With the Enemy starring Julia Roberts! He was also in Patriot Games with Harrison Ford! The Monster in this version of Mary Shelly's novel is played by none other than Randy Quaid! Yep...Randy Quaid who played Cousin Eddie in the National Lampoon Vacation Films! Randy holds his own here as the Monster. He is no Boris Karloff or Christopher Lee, but he does a better job than Robert De Niro! David Wickes wrote and directed this TV movie. Wickes also brought us a Jekyll and Hyde TV movie and a Jack the Ripper mini-series starring Michal Caine! Is this the closet screen version of Shelly's novel? No, but it is better than Kenneth Branagh's version! Join us for Frankenstein the 1992 TV movie version! Plot: Dr. Victor von Frankenstein (Patrick Bergin) creates his creature (Randy Quaid), who escapes into the countryside to find that humanity has only pain and sorrow for him. Brandon and I continue our October Halloween Extravaganza! The Church is a film written and produced by Dario Argento the director of Deep Red and the original 1977 Suspiria! Michele Soavi directs the film. Soavi also directed Cemetery Man starring Rupert Everett! The score was composed by Keith Emerson, Philip Glass, Goblin, and Fabio Pignatelli! The all star cast is led by Thomas Arana who has been in such films as Gladiator, and The Bourne Supremacy! Hugh Quarshie also stars as Father Gus. You may remember him from Clive Barker's Masterpiece Nightbreed or Star Wars Episode 1: The Phantom Menace. Asia Argento is present as Lotte the scamp who would rather go clubbing than restore ancient frescos! This is a gorgeous example of 80's Italian Horror in the same vein as Lucio Fulci! Plot: An old Gothic cathedral built over a mass grave develops strange powers that trap a number of people inside with ghosts from a 12th Century massacre seeking to resurrect an ancient demon from the bowels of the Earth. Taglines: You Haven't Got A Prayer. It will make you squirm. In this unholy sanctuary you haven't got a prayer ...
Marc from The Toys of a Time Gone By joins Brandon and I as we discuss the John Carpenter film, The Ward. This is Carpenter's first film since Ghosts of Mars from 2001. Unfortunately, it is the last film he has made so far. The Ward stars Amber Heard...that is correct...Amber Heard. Jared Harris stars as Dr. Gerald Stringer. You may recall Harris from the mini-series Chernobyl. Danielle Panabaker from the Arrowverse show The Flash is also appearing. How does The Ward hold up against Carpenters other films, Halloween, Prince of Darkness, The Fog, and They Live? Join us! There may be answers!
Plot: An institutionalized young woman becomes terrorized by a ghost.

It sounds suspiciously like a remake of the 1992 film, Bram Stoker's Dracula.
