In this special episode of the podcast, we explore some of the research being undertaken at the Burgess Foundation. We are joined by Sam Jermy, who is researching Burgess's 1970s lectures on Shakespeare and Elizabethan England at the Foundation.Sam Jermy is a doctoral researcher in the School of English at the University of Leeds. His current research focuses on the relationships between masculinities and the body in seventeenth-century literature, focussing on the writing of Thomas Middleton and his collaborators. This work is fully funded by the White Rose College of Arts and Humanities Doctoral Training Partnership, who have also supported his research with the International Anthony Burgess Foundation.This episode was recorded in July 2020, and due to the Covid-19 restrictions, the interview was conducted remotely. The sound quality is a little patchy in places.
