Layoffs are simply a part of business. Over the years
there have been millions of workers let go and it's always a difficult, painful process. In this podcast I give you my perspectives on the process, the role leadership must play, and how to deal with the topic if you are the one losing your job. I also give you my own perspectives on hiring, which is the mirror image of layoffs, and what I think is going on at Twitter. Finally, I took a few minutes to share my personal experience with layoffs at IBM, Sybase, DigitalThink (where I was the victim), and my own company.
I hope this podcast gives you some perspective as a leader, HR person, or individual dealing with this issue. And let me remind you the Irresistible companies deal with this a very unique way. (They hire slowly and have a very deliberate process to make sure all new hires "increase productivity" and don't "slow the company down.")
