Making self-ruled men to rule well and win the world.
The podcast The King’s Hall is created by Brian Sauvé, Dan Berkholder, & Eric Conn. The podcast and the artwork on this page are embedded on this page using the public podcast feed (RSS).
Feminism has ruined not only society, but the church. Instead of correcting haughty and controlling women, we now celebrate what Paul calls in Titus 2, women who revile the word of God by disrespecting their husbands. Sadly, many men are trapped in marriages to reviling women. In this episode, we sit down to talk with David Edgington, a biblical counselor and pastor whose forthcoming book, "White Knights and Reviling Wives: How Feminism Destroys Families" will be published through New Christendom Press.
What can be done to remedy this far-reaching modern error? In this episode of the King’s Hall Podcast, we’ll discuss how feminism has ruined marriages, society, and the church, and what we must do to fix the problem.

In this episode of the King’s Hall Podcast, we’ll discuss the Post War Consensus, why we think it is dying—and why we think that’s a good thing. Out with the “weak gods” that have destroyed the West, and in with the “strong gods” that built the first Christendom.
In particular, we’ll discuss R.R. Reno’s book, Return of the Strong Gods, as well as an article from Ben Crenshaw over at American Reformer. We’ll discuss Woodrow Wilson’s dream for a global government, and FDR who fulfilled that vision with the creation of the UN. How have these policies and ideologies shaped the 20th Century?

As we discuss in today’s episode—which features an interview with Dr. George Grant—the 5th through 9th centuries were marked by Guilds of Learning, which were the melding of craftsmanship with covenant succession. A student spent an entire lifetime being shaped by a master, who helped them become immersed in whatever trade they had taken up.
As a result, “artists” saw themselves as workmen, and spent a lifetime honing their craft. None of this could have been possible without the emergence of a Christian education that shaped every facet of life. Da Vinci, for example, knew five languages, studied vastly, and created works of art and science that would still be wildly acclaimed centuries later. A more modern product of Christendom’s genius could be found in someone else we discuss in this episode: J.R.R. Tolkien.
So join us today in the King’s Hall, as we discuss the importance of Christendom, guilds, and the heights of artistic and cultural development brought about by a distinctly Christian culture and people.

In his first days in office, Donald Trump set about radically reshaping America with a long list of executive orders. He declared a national energy emergency in America, promised to "drill baby drill," renamed the Gulf of Mexico, and ended many national environmental engagements, including the Paris Accords. On the immigration issue, he went after cartels, began deporting illegals, and confronted foreign governments like Colombia, which at first refused to take back its citizens.
Many have called this Trump's effort to "repeal the 20th Century." It may seem radical, but is it all that bad? Trump has also called for an end to the income tax, the opening of an external revenue service (ERS), and more tariffs to help encourage manufacturing to return to the U.S. In this episode, we talk about what these executive orders mean for the next four years.

As the recent dustup on X over Christmas demonstrated, the ruling elites and techno-oligarchs aren't exactly in touch with American sentiment when it comes to the H-1B visa, a program that brings in foreign labor to replace American jobs. The program has existed for a long time, and one of its key users is Apple.
Likewise, we'll talk about an article from Dave Greene about the H-1B that dispels many of the ugly truths behind it. As with the story of the closure of the Leinenkugel Brewery in Wisconsin, we'll discuss how globalist economic practices are actually destroying the fabric of the American nation and people.

What if the icons of conservative thought weren't who we believed them to be? This episode challenges preconceived notions as we unravel the complex tapestry of conservative politics and Christian nationalism. We start by examining why we did not endorse the Antioch Declaration, with a spotlight on William F. Buckley Jr.'s contentious journey through the American right. From his influential founding of the National Review to his polarizing stance on Israel, Buckley's legacy is dissected to reveal the nuanced layers of his impact on the conservative movement.
Our conversation then shifts to the internal tug-of-war within conservative circles, featuring figures like Rod Dreher and Doug Wilson. We delve into the strategies and ideological shifts that are reshaping the landscape, drawing intriguing parallels to the left's approach of embracing extremes to shift societal discourse. Recent controversies surrounding "White Boy Summer," "Revoice for Nazis," and more are addressed head-on, scrutinizing how antisemitism is being redefined within Christian communities and the implications of these narratives for the future of the movement.
Finally, we explore the complexities of public controversies and their impact on church communities and leadership. With a pastoral lens, we investigate the heated disputes involving Joel, Tobias, and the Antioch Declaration, emphasizing the necessity of clear communication and accountability. This episode is a call to foster transparency and truth-seeking, advocating for thoughtful dialogues that bridge the gap between differing perspectives in a rapidly evolving political and religious landscape.
We hope this episode answers these three key questions:
1. Why didn't we sign the Antioch Declaration?
2. What vision for Christian Nationalism do we support?
3. What do we hope happens from here?

In this episode of The King's Hall Podcast, we tell the story of a people who quite literally saved civilization—the Irish—remembering that the Lord loves to use small, backwoods communities to do great and mighty works.
The Irish are a hardscrabble people who have suffered much and endured through tears and laughter. They fought in the face of certain defeat and somehow didn’t lose their jovial spirit. Though they scarcely get the credit they deserve, it was the uneducated, rough-around-the-edges Irish that saved Western civilization. Once Christian, they became literate; once literate they became saviors. And so, despite their tragic moments, it is to this proud race of warrior-poet Christians that we owe our entire Western culture and way of life. The next time you read Virgil’s Aeneid, thank God for the people that preserved it for you.
Would the Lord be pleased to use unlikely Christian boroughs to preserve Western civilization once again? If we were to engage in such a preservation effort, what resources, talents, and energy would it take? Many see the writing on the wall: The left is actively seeking to destroy the West. Who will rise, in the spirit of St. Patrick, to keep alive this sacred cultural heritage?

Donald Trump's victory in the 2024 Presidential election marked one of the greatest political comebacks in U.S. history. He didn't do it alone, however, but with a ton of help from folks like Elon Musk, Peter Thiel, Scott Pressler, Susie Wiles, Joe Rogan, and Dana White. His run also had broad appeal to many on the right wing thanks to the selection of J.D. Vance as Vice Presidential candidate.
With the win, as Elon Musk said on X, "The future is gonna be fantastic." The real question is who will be ready to capitalize on this moment? Musk promised deregulation in his role with DOGE (The Department of Government Efficiency), which means it's a great time to build—your company, church, or Christian borough. In this episode, Brian, Dan, and Eric will talk about ways Christians can capitalize on this moment and continue to build Christendom 2.0. They'll discuss strategies in Ogden, as well as lessons we can learn from Trump's victory.
How can we build coalitions that aid the project of Christendom? Why is Musk's ethos and pathos of risk and adventure so contagious? Why is winning the young men on the right pivotal for future success? Why were evangelicals wrong for refusing to vote for Trump? Will they have a voice in the future? We'll tackle these questions and more.

It all began with the assassination of Franz Ferdinand on June 28, 1914, and would result in World War I—a brother war that would tear the West apart. The King of England, the Kaiser, and Tsar Nicholas were all blood related cousins. To this day, no one really knows how, exactly, or why WWI happened. But it did. And it opened the door for chaos that led to World War II and the rise of men like Hitler, Stalin, and Mussolini.
Today, Reformed Christians are quick to go to war with each other, but this only weakens any attempt to rebuild Christendom. Our enemies make progress against us because, as Cain killed Abel, we are too quick to destroy those with whom we share 98% of theological principles. How can we work together instead? How can we maintain distinctives and differences without destroying one another? We will discuss in this episode.

The kingdom of Wallachia was the home to warlords, brutality, and the reign of Islamic terror. One man rose from Turkish captivity to save his people, and would as a result become one of the most fascinating—and brutal—leaders in Christendom. His name was Vlad Tepes, but he was best known as Vlad Dracul or, more ominously, Vlad the Impaler.
In the late 1800s, Bram Stoker found documents about Vlad's brutal methods and in turn wrote the famous novel, Dracula. He told of a blood sucking vampire who could never die. But how do we separate the myth of Dracula from the real man, Vlad Tepes, who was no doubt brutal but was also known as a defender of the West?
In this episode, we talk about Vlad, the true story behind the man, and the vicious propaganda campaign waged against him. We also relate it to bitter disputes within Christian circles today, and why it's so important to unite around our common faith rather than divide ourselves into petty factions.

The Louisiana Purchase stands as one of the key moments that shaped what America would become as a nation. It laid the groundwork for massive continental expansion and economic development. The purchase was also not merely a momentary investment, but a bet on the generations of future sons and daughters of America. It was a visionary investment in the future.
We'll continue to explore a pivotal question in this episode: How can I leave an inheritance to my children's children? If history is any guide, one place to build enduring wealth must be in the land itself.
We sit down with Tim Six, Refuge Church member and F-35 pilot, about how he has successfully built a real estate portfolio. He talks about "house hacking" and other real estate strategies.

In this episode, we talk with Jordan Bush, executive director at Thank God for Bitcoin. We'll pick his brain about the importance of de-fi (decentralized finance), blockchain, and how Christians can utilize cryptocurrency to build wealth and further the work of the new Christendom.
You can't build New Christendom without understanding money and wealth. In this brief new series, we'll be talking to experts in real estate, cryptocurrency, precious metals (gold & silver), and trad-fi (traditional finance) about where and how to invest your money in this particular moment in history. Inflation is skyrocketing, political turmoil is mounting, but the question remains: What do you actually do about it? This episode is Part I, on Bitcoin as a potential answer to those questions.
In this interview, we talk about one of the most disruptive and optimistic options for financial decentralization, which is Bitcoin. We'll start by discussing the reasons Christians have failed to properly understand the principles for building wealth and passing on a legacy, which includes pietism in the American church. We were told poverty was next to godliness, and that money only existed to give away.

In this episode we talk with pastor and author Zach Garris about the work of Reformed resourcement and his new book, "Honor Thy Fathers." In the book, Garris argues that biblical patriarchy and male headship were the standard positions of our Reformed fathers. He also argues that churches should return to these teachings and oppose feminist incursions into the church and Christian theology.
We'll ask and answer some important questions in this episode: Why is it that so many Reformed churches refuse to follow the Reformers on issues of male headship and rule in the home, church, and commonwealth? Was complementarianism a return to the traditions of our fathers, or a distinct departure? Were modern evangelicals motivated by Scriptural warrant, or a combination of ignorance and cowardice that refused to address feminism?
We also talk about deviations with Tim Keller and Nancy Pearcey, two modern examples of why turning our backs on Reformed teaching and the Scriptures has been detrimental to the church, households, and society.

We do a much needed breakdown from the 2024 NCP Conference recently in Ogden, UT. We'll talk about the current moment, why there's so much energy in our camp—dare we say, you could call it an Ogden Mood—White Boy Summer, Stephen Wolfe, and much, much more.
We'll talk about some of the highlights, including Joel Webbon's epic talk on righteous balkanization, Chase Davis' post-mortem on Acts 29, and Dr. Joe Rigney's excellent talk about how empathy can destroy your church or community. The Ogden mood seems to bring out the very best and bravest in other men—and quite honestly, we're here for it.
We also talk about our interactions (run ins?) with the staff at Ogden High School, false claims made about our conference attendees, and smiling while leftists hate us.

The Muslims called him Skanderbeg, which means, "Lord Alexander." Born George Kastrioti, the Albanian born prince was captured by the Muslims, became a Janissary, and yet returned to defend his people and Christendom.

In this episode we talk with Timon Cline and Clifford Humphrey about their article that ran in the American Reformer, titled Fortress Building in the Negative World. We also discuss Aaron Renn's work about life in the negative world, how to build strong outposts for cultural insurgency, and failures within the church and political sphere to address this new kind of world.
We'll talk about Machiavelli's The Prince, why strong messaging works to filter out the wrong people and attract the right people, and why monasteries aren't quite what we're aiming at. We'll be talking about "The Alfred Option" instead.

We trace the heroic journey of Christian lords and knights like Duke Godfrey as they reconquer and retake Jerusalem. We'll also cover the battle of Nicaea and Antioch, including the miraculous appearance of Saint George. One of the key figures we'll also discuss is Bohemond, the giant-like hero, and his nephew, Tancred.
We'll also ask pivotal questions for our own time: Which institutions could be retaken? Why is it right and proper that men follow other men and leaders who have won real fights, either in the culture war, church, or in business?

In November of 1095, at the height of the Muslim invasion, Pope Urban II spoke from a platform outside the French city of Claremont, surrounded by an enormous crowd. There he roused noble knights and lords to defend Constantinople from a Muslim invasion and called them to retake Jerusalem for Christendom.
In this episode, we talk about the men who answered the call, from Godfrey of Bouillon to Raymond of Toulouse. We'll discuss the People's Crusade, led by Peter the Hermit and Walter the Penniless, and the Princes' Crusade, led by men such as Godfrey.
We'll also talk about why people today, from Bill Clinton to Barak Obama to Karen Armstrong, claim that the Crusades were an atrocity against Islam.

In this episode, we seek to recover the patriarchy of the first Christendom, including the reformers. To men like Knox, Calvin, Vermigli, and others, headship and father rule were central, not secondary, issues upon which Christendom was built. C.S. Lewis included headship in his book, Mere Christianity, as a centrally important doctrine. We'll unpack nine principles that are central to a patriarchal vision, which is in turn essential for building Christendom.
We also discuss the recent tweet from Doug Wilson about Eric and Ogden, regarding the platform and reactions of Allie Beth Stuckey, why it matters, and then, finally, we address Rachel and Bekah's (Wilson's daughters) comments on two of the most recent episodes of What Have You.

Alfred is one of the greatest heroes of the Christian West. Once exiled, he regained a foothold on the island and drove out the Danes, who had ruthlessly overwhelmed the countryside. He led reforms in education, government, and monetary policy. He also developed the idea of Christian burroughs.
Known as the White Horse King, we'll talk about Alfred's legendary military campaigns against Guthrum and the Vikings.

After the rise of Muhammad across the Arabian peninsula in the 7th Century, Christian armies faced a serious threat to Western Civilization. Things came to a head in 636 at the Battle of Yarmuk, when Heraclius' Byzantine army met with crushing defeat before an advancing Muslim army. Many think the conflict between these two religions started with the first Crusade in 1095, but it starts long before that.
In this episode, we talk about what happened at this famous battle and why Yarmuk stands as one of the most important battles in Western history. What lessons can be learned? How did it shape the world? Why do Christians need to take their enemies seriously? We discuss these questions and more.

Who are the heroes that built it? What are its high water marks and when did it begin? Why was Islam so important in the shaping of Christian Europe and the West? Were the Crusades really evil?
We're telling the story of Christendom in all its heroic glory, from men like Charlemagne and El Cid, Charles Martel and Alfred the Great to Christopher Columbus and Tsar Nicholas. In this episode we'll lay out a map for the rest of the season. We'll also talk about Gothic Cathedrals, Notre Dame, and so much more.

Ever feel like modern society has lost touch with its roots? Sit down with us, as we pull back the veil of time to explore the pivotal role of ancient truths in shaping and rebuilding Christendom. We push past overused narratives and dive into misunderstood aspects of our history, taking a closer look at pivotal themes such as Christian Nationalism, the alleged barbarism during the Crusades, and the often overlooked benefits of colonialism. We believe that the preservation of history is a duty we all share, and it’s through understanding our past that we can chart a better course for the future.
As we navigate through our rich church history, you’ll realize why we stress on the importance of actively living out faith to truly build Christendom. We’ll explore how the complexities of Christian Nationalism can be remedied by fulfilling one’s duties, such as being a good parent, spouse, and responsible citizen. Join us as we challenge false historical narratives and take a stand against the whitewashing of history. We debunk the myth of the early church being flawless, and shed light on the resilience of the West against the spread of Islam - elements that have shaped our current beliefs and practices.
As we round up, we introduce you to the heart-stirring music of the Knights Templars and discuss how it’s reverberations have echoed through the centuries. We also delve into the fascinating courage of the reformers during the Magisterial Reformation, and the significance of having enemies when standing firm in our beliefs. So, grab that cup of coffee and prepare to have your perspective broadened, your beliefs challenged, and your knowledge deepened. In this episode, we address the debate around adoption ethics and the social media storm following Eric Conn's recent tweets related to adoption.
Our journey takes us from the language of natural affection in Biblical texts to the role of the Church in adoption, and the very real impact of unconsidered adoption. Get ready for discussions about the billion-dollar adoption industry, the dangers of not researching adoption, and the importance of pastoral guidance when making decisions about adoption.
As we draw to a close, we dig into the cultural narratives surrounding adoption. We share stories of folks who've experienced the harsh consequences of unprepared adoption and reflect on the pressures couples face to adopt. We conclude by emphasizing the need for credibility while navigating controversial issues. To lighten things up, we also spill some beans about Brian's acoustic EP and how it stacks up against Mariah Carey's Christmas albums.

Stories have the power to transform the way we live our lives, but why is that? Have you ever considered how the narratives we weave impact our perception of the world and guide our actions? Or why so many people's live are framed by a narrative of decline? Join us as we embark on a captivating journey into the transformative world of stories and why it's important that we as fathers tell our sons and daughters the right kind of tales. What kind of story are you living in?
In our enlightening discussion, we unlock the profound influence of storytelling, drawing from the Chronicles of Narnia and the life-altering example of Eustace Clarence Scrubb, a character ill-equipped to face life's realities due to the wrong stories he was told as a child. Through the lens of Dostoevsky's Crime and Punishment, we delve into the moral complexities and the human conscience. This episode also features riveting explorations of the works of Wilson Rawls, Steven Pressfield, and others, showcasing the thrilling adventures and stimulating imagination these stories ignite.
We further examine the Bible's timeless narratives, such as David and Goliath, highlighting the invaluable lessons of bravery and leadership they impart. Reflecting on the 1,500 years of human history often overlooked, we marvel at the accomplishments of this era, emphasizing the necessity to honor our spiritual forebears. As a bonus, we offer a sneak peek into an upcoming conversation with Kirk Cameron and Brian's new album, Hearth Songs. Gear up for an awe-inspiring discourse on the monumental role storytelling plays in shaping our lives.

Are you prepared to wage the battle for hope? As fathers and leaders, we're not just fighting for our own souls. We're contending for the souls of our children, the future generation. We're on a quest to discover how to provide beams of hope amidst the swirling tempests of life. In this pursuit, we turn to Tolkien’s The Return of the King, examining the character of Denethor, a symbol of despair and defeat. We also reflect on the importance of raising our children to be strong, courageous, and hopeful.
In the midst of the raging battle at the Pelennor Fields, we take inspiration from King Theoden, another character from Tolkien's Lord of the Rings. Theoden's story speaks of despair transformed into courage, glory, and a brave death. His tale teaches us the lesson of resurrection hope, the ultimate white pill in the face of death. We also explore the resurgence of cultures that go down fighting and delve into why the youth of today are embracing post-millennialism as a way of maintaining hope in the future.
Diving further, we scrutinize the role of media consumption in conservative culture and how it feeds into a narrative of decline. But we're not stopping there. We’re charting out ways to combat this mindset, gleaning lessons from Theoden's example. We're striving to guide you in leading your families with bravery and optimism, armed with faith, joy, and an unshakeable belief in the promises of the Lord. We invite you to join us on this journey towards hope and resilience.

Do you ever ponder how societal shifts and technological advancements are influencing fertility and family structures? In this thought-provoking conversation, we compare the worldwide birth rates of the 1950s to those of today, and question the balance between fertility and prosperity. We shed light on the rise of fertility religions and the growing trend of egg freezing, a path chosen by many modern women who seek to balance their career aspirations and future family plans. We also discuss the controversial role of corporations like Facebook and Apple in this narrative, as they offer to cover egg freezing costs for their employees.
In our discussion, we don't shy away from challenging the status quo. We dissect the decline in birth rates and the impact of secularization on Christian culture, and how this has influenced societal behaviors and attitudes towards fertility. We bring to the forefront hard-hitting topics like the weaponization of Christian values in the immigration debate, IVF, vasectomies, QuiverFull, delaying marriage & kids for college or career, the role of education and feminism in family structures, and how children are often perceived as a financial burden in our society.
As we navigate through the conversation, we also tackle the pressing issue of marriage's role in society and the societal pressure to delay marriage. From the ethical implications of IVF to the importance of fathers' role in fertility decisions, we delve into these thorny issues. We wrap up our discussion by considering the potential benefits of relocating to communities like Ogden, Utah, where family growth is supported, and emphasize the crucial role fathers play in fertility decisions. We leave no stone unturned in our quest to understand the intricacies of fertility, family, and societal impacts.

Are you grappling with how to guide your children towards godly marriages? The story of Joshua Harris, once an icon of the modern purity movement, whose unfortunate fall from grace prompts us to ponder: How can we protect our daughters from such pitfalls and inspire our sons to seek virtuous women? How can we, as fathers, help our children to marry well and avoid marrying fools?
In this episode, we challenge the widely accepted approach to dating, questioning its potential harms and limitations. Instead, we advocate the significance of wisdom, discernment, and maturity. Marriage is a monumental commitment, often underestimated in today's quick-fix culture. We discuss the risks of stepping into this sacred union without adequate preparation.
We also explore how to assess character traits in our children's potential partners - from ambition to vision, and the peril of self-centeredness. We discuss the role of location, community, and networking in this quest. Tune in, as we endeavor to equip you with wisdom and understanding, enabling you to lead your children towards fulfilling, godly marriages.

In this episode, we talk about how to win your children's hearts. As we learn from the story of Stonewall Jackson, our sons will either build and defend our cultural monuments—or tear them down. How do we think about cultural transmission and legacy work? Where does it start? Ultimately, we need thick culture that comes from thick liturgy and cultural maximalism.
As we navigate the complexity of protecting our historical monuments, we also broach the little-known influence of feminism and Unitarians in the 1800s. We explore the necessity of robust worship structures and the role of fathers in cultural transmission. We believe that our worship forms our culture, and that's why our conversation also extends to the diverse practices of various churches, underlining the need for a deep and resilient culture.
We wrap up with some actionable insights on church membership, worship, liturgy, Christian education, and intentional parenting. You'll hear our thoughts on the transformative power of consistent application of biblical principles and the benefits of addressing uncomfortable topics. We also discuss the influence of male figures in education and some creative solutions to the tuition funding dilemma. Our appreciation goes out to our Patreon supporters who make these conversations possible. We look forward to engaging with your feedback and suggestions. Listen in and add some historical context and practical wisdom to your day!

Doug Wilson has said one of the things you want to be as a father is “The Blessing Man.” You have a unique role to be a disciplinarian, and provide authority, order, and structure, and this is good. But you also need to be like the Lord, Our Father, who overflows with blessing. We see this picture of the Lord in Psalm 65:9-13:
Ever thought about how the portrayal of masculinity and fatherhood in popular culture has been skewed? Unpack the idea of fatherhood, joy and masculinity with us, as we redefine the role of a father as a "blessing man" in this episode. Drawing inspiration from Joe Rigney's article, First in Last Out Laughing Loudest, and referencing characters like Gandalf from Lord of the Rings, we dive into the essence of a father who brings joy and laughter into the home, even in the face of adversity.
We have a heart-to-heart about the misconceptions around masculinity in movies and pop culture, which often associate it with joylessness, harshness, and sternness. Through the lens of biblical wisdom, we challenge these stereotypes and argue for a more biblically accurate perspective of masculinity that is full of gladness, mirth and wisdom. We explore the profound influence of words in fatherhood, and how fathers can use their language prowess to build up their families and foster joy.
It's time to reconsider the role of joy in family dynamics. Focusing on the importance of good communication, humor and supportive, joyful fatherhood, we guide you on how to cultivate a positive home environment. We touch on the crucial role of the church community in fostering joy and explore how Christian culture and art can reflect God's gifts. Tune in to this episode to learn how to become a blessing man in your home.

In this episode of The King's Hall, the guys talk about one of the ways the opposing team cloaks its attack on Christianity—waging a proxy war on so-called "whiteness" as an attack on the Christian faith and the civilization it built in the West over the last two millennia. How do we see through this tactic? How should we respond?

In this episode of The King's Hall, we take up the second part in a conversation concerning Christian political theology: What would a godly city father look like? What might a Christian political theology consist of? What might a truly Christian polis be like? Here in part three, we discuss the duty of godly city fathers to defend the Christian cultus, ruling with an explicit awareness of the covenantal nature of their office.

In the last episode here in The King's Hall, the guys talked about one of the giants that roams the land—a great idol that must be felled as we put stone on stone in the cathedral of the new Christendom: Statism. But it is essential that we don't reach for the wrong weapon to slay this Nephilim. One of those blunted weapons we might reach for is the topic of this week's episode—the dull blade of Christless, jelly-spined, fruitless, and thoroughly cuckolded conservatism.

Where Revivalism and Decisionism produce a culture of restorationism and novelty, the new Christendom will be marked by covenantal thinking and historically rooted catholicity. Against this apocalyptic mentality, we’re saying that Christians ought to be thinking in terms of building, growing, fighting, conquering, planting—that we should be thinking like the distiller who puts the freshly distilled spirits in the barrel, expecting someone to want the glorious product in 15, 20, 25, or even 50 years. Ok, but let’s get practical: What are some ways that we can actually cultivate this conquest mindset?

Evangelical culture today has been largely shaped by revivalism & decisionism. We trace these historical elements back several centuries, where men like Charles Finney and eventually Billy Graham would come to dominate the church culture. Instead of the slow, plodding work of legacy building, the church became obsessed with large crowds, emotional experiences, and big tent revivals.

In the last episode, we did a little bit of demolition work on the dominant model for building a successful church over the last century, which we called the Big, Fast, & Famous church model. The question is, what do we build in its place? We want to spend this episode starting to look at blueprints and architectural designs and envisioning construction plans as we seek to build the new Christendom. Our vision is for a decentralized, local church that thrives in the work of long-term, legacy plodding, and brings glory through faithful men and women building households, communities, & local economies.

In this episode, in the spirit of Boniface taking his axe to Thor's oak, we'd like to sink our axe into the first strip mall that Christians have put up on our job site. This is one of the first models of Christianity that will need to go if we are to build a cathedral here. We might call this model: The Big, Fast, & Famous Model.

Welcome to the introductory episode of the King's Hall Podcast, which exists to make self-ruled men who rule well and win the world.
In season 1, we'll be building out a vision for Christian culture that approaches the task of winning the world in the spirit of Saint Boniface and his trusty axe. We'll work through everything from education to economics to ecclesiastical matters and beyond. The chips will be flying, and the beginnings of a cathedral should start to form right there in the pagan wilderness. In this episode we'll talk about...
