We continue on with our Page to Screen month, where we look at films that are based off of books, with the 1999 live-action version of Animal Farm. The book deals with the terror of communism as shown allegorically through animals taking back a farm from the farmers. The voice actors in the film are quite well known: Patrick Stewart, Kelsey Grammer, Julie Louis-Dreyfus. It's an interesting film that is not for kids, even though it was made by Hallmark and features talking animals. We also spoke with John Stephenson, who directed the film, about what it was like to work with animal performers and animatronics.
