The Letterman Podcast 013 Arthur Kelly

51 min • 8 juli 2022

Arthur Kelly worked with his Worldwide Pants family for 15 years, and his job with the organization never changed. Arthur answered the phones on David Letterman's floor and was one of the last gatekeepers in charge of filtering the massive volume of calls the organization received. He did however, have a significant new task added to his job description along the way; portraying a parody of Former NFL coach and player (not in that order,) Mike Singletary off and on for nearly a decade on the Coach's Corner segment of The Late Show.  Already a good friend with Mike, Artie 'The One Man Party' makes his first appearance on 'The Letterman Podcast' and on the lucky thirteenth episode, no less! The two buddies talk about all sorts of things from how he was hired, pranks he pulled in the office, to how David 'Freaking' Letterman whipped various items, (such as random species of produce) at his head every day. They also talk about the fact that Arthur gave Mike his first 'Pants" jacket, which is a sweet story, that leads into another story that is leagues sweeter regarding the most special 'Worldwide Pants' jacket ever created. They also talk about one of the most sentimental things Dave ever said to Artie in all the years they worked together and how it impacts him to this very day.

One Note: If you watch the video version of 'The Letterman Podcast' you will see Arthur has an American Flag upside down in the background. He is also wearing funky glasses. Mike talked to Artie off mic and they discussed how this is not a reflection of disrespect in any way; quite the opposite. Artie told Mike things are that way because the whole world is upside down right now, and he is trying to spread joy while acknowledging the 'upside-downess' of everything. Its important note this so there is no misunderstanding. Arthur is a special guy with a really good heart.
