If you’ve been paying attention to the news cycle over the past few weeks, you know that there’s been a lot happening. Fascism in Brazil, anti-semitism, bombs in the mail and the US Army coming to the border to confront refugees. In all of that, there was also some important and troubling stuff from the Prez about possible changes to Title IX that would narrowly define an individual’s gender. While all of this stuff is important, we don’t want the impending danger for transpeople to get lost in the mix.
So, in light of all that, this week we’re talking with Blaire Bohlen, a talented artist and all around great person who identifies as trans non-binary. Blaire has had a pretty wild journey through Christianity, especially after being fired from the campus ministry organization InterVarsity for being bi in 2015, leading them to have some really interesting and helpful insights on the damaging pathologies within Christianity and evangelicalism especially. Blaire is also involved in a neat thing called the Reformation Project, which according to its website "is a Bible-based, Christian grassroots organization that works to promote inclusion of LGBTQ people by reforming church teaching on sexual orientation and gender identity. Our vision is of a global church that fully affirms LGBTQ people.” They do grassroots organizing and education and have a ton of great resources.
