Episode 32 - Amanda's Story - Growing Up With a Dying Mother & How it Affects Her Motherhood Today

Amanda has been my friend for 36 years - and what I didn't realize when we were playing Barbies and jamming to NKOTB was that she was struggling. Amanda herself admits she did not even know at the time that she was struggling. However, her mother was battling multiple sclerosis, and Amanda was having to grow up faster than her peers. She began to provide more and more care for her mother until she passed when Amanda was 14 and her mother was 39. Fast forward to now and Amanda has two children of her own, ages 15 and 10. She shares a raw and honest account of how growing up while her mom was sick has affected how she parents her own kids today.
