Andres Shirm spent his entire childhood terrified of a man his family thought was responsible for his mother - Jennifer Lynn Shirm's disappearance. Even the sight of the man’s photo sent Andy into full-on panic attacks.

Although he'd eventually learn that his mother hadn't just been taken - she'd been murdered, it wouldn't be until decades later that he'd learn that the man he'd been afraid of all those years, hadn’t been his mother's murderer at all.

Over the years, police identified several suspects in Jennifer's murder investigation - even making two arrests.

Yet still, close to 40 years later, the question still remains, "Who killed Jennifer?"

In 2016, April 16th was the first perfect day of spring in rural Muskegon County Michigan.

On the cold spring morning of April 19, 2020, a woman staggered from the woods outside Portapique Nova Scotia. Her bare feet were blackened from running through the woods, and she was covered in scrapes and bruises.

She hammered on the door of a neighbor, who let her inside and called 911.

She told police something had finally snapped in her abusive common-law partner Gabriel Wortman. But by the time she made that phone call, he’d already murdered 13 people and his rampage was far from over.

In May 2012, a man named Mick Philpott stepped up to the mic, at a small pub tucked away in a corner of Derby, England.

Wearing a fedora and sunglasses, Mick picked up the microphone and waited for a few beats before belting out the legendary lyrics, "We're caught in a trap. I can't walk out."

As Mick's wife giggled at the back of the pub, Mick poured himself into the Elvis song "Suspicious Minds" apparently unable to read the room.

In the fairly tight-knit town, (where Mick was practically known by everyone), the seemingly harmless karaoke gig held a dark irony.

On January 16th, 2020, the JW Marriott in downtown Los Angeles was hosting the adult industry’s biggest awards night. The atmosphere was Pure glitz and glamour, setting the scene for a night to remember.

In the dark morning hours of February 23rd, 2022, in Green Bay, Wisconsin, Tara Pakanich was awakened by a loud bang.

Warm under her blankets, still groggy from a sound sleep, the startling noise seemed like it could’ve been only one thing: the storm door.

As Tara got out of bed to investigate, she noticed the lights still on in the basement, where her 24-year-old son, Shad Thyrion, had been hanging out for the last couple of days.

But no one was down there now. As she headed back up the basement stairs, something strange suddenly caught her eye: a bucket with a beach towel draped over top.
