Gil (Robert de Niro) is a troubled knives salesman with a short fuse. He is dealing with a messy divorce and a really awkward, tense relationship with his young son. As Gil’s life falls apart before our very eyes, he finds solice in a deep obsession with baseball and one of the players that plays the game – San Fransisco Giant’s newest recruit Bobby Rayburn (Wesley Snipes from TO WONG FOO!!!! We've seen that movie!!!) Gil’s obsession becomes violent and, like, really really really creepy. For example, he kills Benicio del Toro in a sauna for Bonny. Gil also has an underground lair full of newspaper articles and photos of his crush.
John Leguizamo plays Manny, Bobby Rayburn's manager, I think. I’m not good with sports stuff. He follows Bobby around and organising interviews for him and discusses stuff like signing contracts. That’s a manager, right? He wears glasses in this movie.
