Daniel, Shahbaz, & Anthony review Hayao Miyazaki’s THE BOY AND THE HERON as part of The Movie Podcast's 2023 Toronto International Film Festival coverage. Already acclaimed as a masterpiece in Japan, Hayao Miyazaki’s new film begins as a simple story of loss and love, and rises to become a staggering work of imagination. The voice cast includes Soma Santoki, Masaki Suda, Ko Shibasaki, Aimyon, Yoshino Kimura, Takuya Kimura, Karou Kobayashi, and Shinobu Otake. The Boy and the Heron is the Opening-Night film of 48th Annual Toronto international Film Festival with a premiere set at VISA Screening Room at the Princess of Wales Theatre on Thursday September 7. Studio Ghibli has teamed up with GKIDS for a wide release of the film. No release date has been set.
