24. The Psychology of Abusive Leadership with Dr. Katie Blake

Dr. Katie, professor and researcher as well as master level yoga instructor, breaks down how Evangelical spaces can co-opt our identities and provide breeding grounds for abusive authority. Dr. Katie, explains early childhood development and how that creates our formation of identity. Identity, she argues, influences what kind of relational intimacy we have as adults. Tim and Dr. Katie, explore how churches, by their very nature of subjective truth, have a greater influence than authority figures who operate from objective fact. This pushes the average church goer to conform. Dr. Katie and Tim, look at how to do embodiment integration especially for women in deconstruction spaces who were survivors of spiritual abuse/trauma.
