December 2021 Mixtape

It’s the last mixtape of the year! This month’s mixtape includes new music from Khruangbin, Afrojack, Sufjan Stevens, The Landing, James Chatburn, Los Bitchos and this fantastic Turkish Trio called Islandman (check out their Karavan Sessions video below). December’s mixtape settles you in with some feel-good indie music which blends into some psychedelic jazz and chill house. That gives way to some West African influences towards the middle of the mix until we make our way to some house and techno towards the end. That new Afrojack collaboration with Black V Neck is a banger. When that bouncy Dutch house bassline drops, it’s hard not to nod your head to it. And surprisingly, the original sample was taken from the 2000s hit, “No Hands” by Waka Flocka Flame. Check the video for the original below.
