The name has been in the news for some time now with multiple documentaries having been made, so we dive into our thoughts on the murders at the center of the downfall of the Murdaugh Dynasty, as well as a brief explanation of the timeline for those unfamiliar. The family seems to serve a stark reminder of the dark reality of established white wealthy families and their influences throughout the US, and what they can get away with.

We're back with another Listener Stories episode, and this is a good one. Plus, hear Maria and Laura debate on whether haunted dolls are really something to be scared of or not!
Maria and Laura are finally back together from break, and we are so excited to tell you about the changes to the podcast. Not too much is changing, but tune into this episode to hear what's coming up! In this Spooky episode, Maria covers the murders of brothers Devon and Damon Routier in Rowlett, Texas in 1996 ... as well as the investigation and arrest of their own mother Darlie Routier as the lead suspect. But nothing is quite as it seems, and there is more than meets the eye in this homocide investigation. This is one of those cases where you're not sure who's right, who's telling the truth, and we're not totally certain the right person ended up in prison on death row. Is Darlie Routier actually innocent, or was she wrongfully convicted and the real killer is still out there? Listen and let us know what you think!
Here is the recording of the Instagram Live we held to celebrate 2 years of the podcast! While this is not a traditional episode, we thought we would publish it on the pod for all to hear! If you have been intrigued or interested in working with a deity—or deities—this is the episode for you! Deity work seems to be one of the most intimidating aspects of witchcraft for new witches, and also one of the most misunderstood. In this beginner's guide, we go over what a deity is, what exactly deity work is and is not, how to get started, and how to read signs from deities.
In this episode we dive into a topic we haven't touched in a while—cults! Maria covers the story of Synanon, a sobriety group that turned sinister once its leader Charles Dederich let the power go to his head (quelle surprise!) For paranormal, Laura covers the curse of Busby's Death Chair. A chair so loved by its original owner that he forbade anyone to sit in it, lest they wish to meet an untimely death.
One of the most romantic notions of witchcraft is carefully selecting from glass jars of herbs or harvesting from your witch's garden to use in a spell jar, a bath ritual, or to brew a potion. But which herbs do you use and why? And how can you harness the healing qualities in plants? And what are some good herbs for beginners? We cover these and more on this episode to introduce you to the world of plants and herbs and how to use them in your witchcraft!
If you're interested in herbalism and herbology, check out theherbalacademy.com for their many products, courses, and resources.

Her story of survival and resilience is amazing, and a must-listen. Maria covers the history of the Rose Hall plantation in Montego Bay, Jamaica. But so much has happened and we are so excited for the year to come for the podcast! Today we kick off 2022 with another installment of our Ethical Witchcraft series. We take a trip through the history of white supremacy both in America and in Nazi Germany, and how it made its way into Norse paganism, and how you can spot Norse symbols that have been appropriated to symbolize a racist agenda. Please note that this episode contains copious amounts of butchered German. You're welcome. *In this episode we incorrectly pronounced the city of Dachau and have since learned it is pronounced “Da-cow.”
Welcome to our last episode of 2021! In this Spooky episode, Maria and Laura catch up on some exciting updates in their lives and then dive into their true crime and paranormal topics. Maria covers the murder of Sameena Imam, a kind and bubbly regional manager for Costco in the UK who promises her family to visit on Boxing Day, but never shows up for the holiday festivities. Just as she thought she was planning to start a new life in the new year, little did she know that someone else was planning on ending hers. Laura then covers the theories and stories of interdimensional travel! If you like a good "glitch in the Matrix" story, then you'll love this episode.

Old-timey murder and modern UFO sightings come together for a super long spooky episode! Maria covers the grisly Hall-Mills double homicide case from the 1920s that swept the nation through sensationalized journalism. This murder has everything—a crabapple tree, torn love letters, a stoic widow, a lawsuit for millions of dollars, and a gossipy hog farmer! Laura covers the possible UFO sightings that happened in Phoenix, Arizona back in the late '90s. With so many consistent eye-witness accounts across a huge geographical area, it's hard to dismiss this mysterious event. There are many theories, but we choose to BELIEVE! Almost a year ago, we released one of our first episodes ... E02: Types of Witches + Altars. It’s currently our most downloaded episode of all time – and for good reason! Every beginner witch wants to find their path and it helps to understand the various sectors within the very large witchy community. Now with social media and the ease of researching online in this day and age, learning about different practices and meeting many kinds of witches is easier now than ever! In this episode we briefly recap the witches we covered in E02 while also adding on some new kinds of witches to talk about. Laura and Maria also open up about what their paths as witches look like – in the past, present, and what we're looking forward towards in the future. This is also a start of a new series where we will do deep dives on different kinds of witches and their magic, and hopefully get some of those very witches to interview. As a simple disclaimer: it should be noted that Maria and Melanie are by no means professionals; they are amateurs using this podcast as a creative outlet and completely wasting valuable space. You should not take anything we say as fact, fiction, or really anything of importance. Remember your actions are your own, but we are always here if you need any help or guidance. Your Mental Health is important to us.
In this Spooky episode, Maria fangirls in a major Latina way, and we talk about butt wine and donut diets! Also, we’re covering the life and death of Selena Quintanilla, the queen of Tejano music, and the ghosts that haunt the Hotel Stockton. This was one of our favorite episodes to record, so we hope y’all like it, too! Let’s get spooky!

We kick off this Witchy Wednesday episode on a different note than usual. We originally recorded the main part of this episode before the current Black Lives Matter protests became the forefront topic in today's world. We know that many are bowing out from their social channels to make room for the voices of the BLM Movement, but we wanted to air this episode for our witches wanting to prepare for the Strawberry Full Moon this Friday evening. We have included a protection spell made by The Illuminated Witch blog on Tumblr that we hope you will use to protect the black community and all Black Lives Matter protesters. After our brief preface added at the beginning of the episode, we go into the history and meaning of the Strawberry Moon, and some rituals and spells you can do on that evening to celebrate! Show your support for BLM, eat tons of strawberries, stay safe, and of course Stay Witchy.

Let's get spooky! In this episode, we talk about Maria being that kid with school projects, hiding your backward facing feet on the first date, and a funeral for a porpoise. We're covering the mythology of La Ciguapa from Dominican Republic, and the old-timey English murder mystery of ... (in an English accent) ... The Brides in the Bath Murders! Happy Spooky Sunday, y'all!

In today's Witchy Wednesday episode: Maria freaks the f*** out from creepy noises in her garage, Melanie proclaims herself as the podcast "lush", and we determine that spirit guides are too busy for a Target run. Maria goes into detail on how to approach spirit guide work, and Melanie delves deeper into ancestry work with her own personal ancestry experience! Please excuse Maria's audio quality, the wifi just wasn't so cooperative that day. Who are your spirit guides? Listen and Stay Witchy!

EDIT: A previous version of this episode included the mention of spirit animals and the Native community. We did not address this in the ethical standards we hold the podcast to today and have removed that portion of this episode as to not encourage others with our ignorance at the time. We are continually educating ourselves and strive to maintain an environment where all cultures and practices are not only welcomed, but feel safe and respected.
Happy Spooky Sunday! This episode covers the tragic murder of Donna Gentile, a sex worker and police informant for the San Diego PD, and the hauntings of former reformatory school Preston Castle in Ione, California.
