Ian Rippin returns to explain how the new MCS is going to work. So do we need to be in a consumer code? Should we wait to join the new scheme or get enrolled as is? Will MCS be doing insurance backed warranties? What role do the CPS assessment providers have now? Do we need them? Ian answers all the big questions and more, one not to miss!
We explore some of the challenges around RCD protection with solar inverters and in particular around TT earthing systems. With discussion around time delayed options, fault and additional protection and lots more! We even get into Sams recent MCS inspection (not the annual variety) and Marks frustration with a customer.
We get into ratings of switchgear around renewables. Should they be 200A rated, 125A rated or fine as they are? Also discussing RCD protection and how we set that up when considering solar/heat pumps.
Mark and Sam get into solar optimisers from SolarEdgeTechnologies EnphaseEnergy and more! What are the benefits? How do they work? Why are they useful? We get into all of that and loads more!

We get into the regulations and rules regarding DC distribution on PV systems. Using our views and experiences as installers and designers. But we want to know what others think about the new innovation from @Doncaster_Cables . Do you think it can be buried direct? Does it need the armours earthing? Can we blend ADS and other protective measures. Should we mix AC system earths into DC distribution? Is this cable type even needed? Get involved in the comments

Bird mesh makes total sense, should the industry mandate its use in all roof solar arrays? Should construction workers, pest controllers and consumers be left exposed to the potential hazards when dealing with the results when mesh is not used? Let us know what you think in the comments! If you missed part one to this check back pre this one!
Is your home, safety and financial investment worth risking by excluding bird protection from your solar PV systems? We get into the health aspect of installers and consumers around animal waste, feather dust??? and lots more with the wonderful Elaine Bliss from PestFix. Plus training and wider knowledge about protected birds and process for moving them or not.... Really enjoyed this chat and now need to get on some training ourselves

Damon, Sam and Mark discuss the role of MCS, the approach of installers and energy retailers and how that effects quality and efficiency of heat pumps and solar. Conversations like this are never easy as the default response from consumers can be that installers are bitter about "disruption" in the market place caused by energy retailers. When really it is people worried about job security after years of training and the costs around that eroded by those who claim to be all about net zero but appear not to care. Its easy for energy barons to make that case less so for an individual trying to keep a roof over their head and work in the best interests of consumers. Interested in feedback on this one!
What is the magic that makes heat pumps work? Damon Blakemore joins us to explain what COP, SCOP, heat loss and more means! Along with tips on how to prepare for a heat pump and find a good installer! Damon can be found here on twitter https://x.com/Damon_BPHR and here online http://blakemoreplumbingandheating.co.uk/ The league table of heat pump performance is here Huge thanks for his time on this one and in part two we get onto MCS, energy retailers, heat geek and more...
Sam and Mark get into the crippling challenges around price slashing at an installer level. With some tips for both installers and consumers of things to look out for and keep in mind. We have a massive opportunity for trades workers with the drive towards net zero. It would be a huge shame to waste that in terms of both quality and longevity but what do you think?
We get into a chat about MCS, what industry could do to support installers and consumers along with our views around pricing and the impact energy retailers have had on the market. This is one not to miss
