Bonus - Ding Dong Darkness Time Podcast: Werewolves and Shapes We Take

Two weeks ago, the author Allison Dickson joined us for a surprisingly bright conversation about darkness and this week I joined Allison on her podcast, Ding Dong Darkness Time, a show that explores the weird, the morbid and the macabre whether supernatural or not. More than a podcast about horror or the paranormal, Ding Dong Darkness Time is an exploration of society, culture, sociology, psychology and history.

I joined Allison this week on Ding Dong Darkness Time to talk about werewolves and shapeshifters. We explore the connection to our beliefs about shapeshifters and our fear of change while at the same time having a deep desire to change into something that can keep us and our loved ones safe. We also discuss the role that culture plays in these myths and a new era of the supernatural in the creative arts that increasingly empowers women and ties back into non-European roots about the supernatural. At the end of the day we use horror and the paranormal to explore things we don't understand, things that science cannot explain and things that we have a hard time emotionally grappling with.

Like the title, werewolves are just one example of the shapes we take and I'm thrilled to be able to offer that discussion as a bonus episode.
