Another federal official raises questions about Trump's vaccine timeline and says that hardly any chance that it will come before the election. Trump said that there will be a vaccine "very soon, maybe even before a very special date, you know what I'm talking about." Trump accuses Harris of "anti-vaccine rhetoric" after the Democratic vice president nominee says "I would not trust Trump" about vaccines. Trump claims that he is getting "very high marks in our handling of the coronavirus" despite polls showing otherwise. The Wall Street Journal says that vaccine developers are preparing a joint safety pledge. 

The United States coronavirus death toll tops 189,000 as the former FDA chief warns country is heading into the fall and winter "with a lot of infection." The former FDA head says that the agency's scientists won't be "pushed around." Thousands of cases are linked to college reopenings in all 50 states. 

Trump denies calling United States war dead "losers" and "suckers," and says that "only an animal" would say something like that. 

Trump is open to an investigation of allegation that the postmaster general reimbursed employees for political contributions.
