Florida Reports New One-Day Record Of 156 Coronavirus Deaths

United States coronavirus cases top 3.5 million with more than 138,000 deaths as the number of new cases are rising in 39 states. Florida reports a new one-day record of 156 deaths and more than 13,000 new infections in a single day. More than 50 Florida hospitals have reached capacity in their intensive care units. The Miami mayor asks for more CDC guidance as coronravirus cases surge in the state of Florida. The Texas governor refuses to shutdown as state breaks daily coronavirus case count record.

Publix, CVS and Target join store requiring masks for customers. Despite objections, more states and cities are requiring people to wear masks. The Georgia governor bans cities and counties in Georgia from mandating the use of masks. 

The Trump administration is pressuring states to reopen schools. The White House press secretary says that "science should not stand in the way" of opening schools back up and claims that science "is on our side."
