What Happened To The First Act Custom Shop? w/ Kelly Butler of K. Butler Guitars

First Act is a brand that almost nobody associates with a high quality instrument. We are used to seeing them in the Walmart toy section, not in the hands of professional touring musicians.

But at some point in the mid-2000s First Act created their own Custom Shop. These instruments went into the hands of some very popular musicians of the era, and are experiencing a serious resurgence all these years later.

Kelly Butler was a builder at the Gibson Custom Shop and was instrumental in creating the First Act Custom Shop instruments, and now owns his own brand K. Butler Guitars.

I brought him on the podcast to tell the story, and it is an extremely interesting tale! We've got John Mayer, Slash, and even Nigel Tufnel (of Spinal Tap fame) waved into this one.
