CPTP104: Forrest Kinney on the 4 Creative Arts

Forrest Kinney and I have a lot in common. We both believe that modern classical music eduction is missing a step when it comes to teaching the creative arts.

Somewhere along the way improvising, composing and arranging got cut out of the equation – and we're fighting to get them back into piano studios around the world.

Piano teachers can feel dizzy with all the different creative projects they could or should be doing. The way Forrest frames these as the four creative arts gives a lot of clarity to creative piano teaching.

I'm delighted he was able to come on the podcast to explain his philosophy and approach to teaching these creative arts.
