In thiIn this episode of The Way of Love Podcast, I had the honor of interviewing Nyssa about her beautiful and powerful journey with her daughter, Colette. This is an incredible story of a mother's unwavering faith and love—Nyssa risked her own life to give her daughter a chance to live. What moved me the most was when she said, 'It's all worth it.' All the pain, all the sacrifices—she would do it all over again.
I know many of you can relate: losing a loved one is deeply painful, but the love and moments shared are priceless, and you'd choose them every time, no matter the cost.
Jesus said this beautifully in John 15:12-13: "My command is this: Love each other as I have loved you. Greater love has no one than this: to lay down one’s life for one’s friends." In this case, Nyssa laid down her life for Colette, and spent the most precious 12 hours of her life with her.
It makes me think about the love that God has for us. The pain and suffering that Jesus endured on the cross—He did it for you and me. He wants to be with us. Jesus lived what He commanded us to do: the greatest love of all. He laid down His life for His friends. And we are His prize.
It says in God's word: "But God demonstrates his own love for us in this: While we were still sinners, Christ died for us." (Romans 5:8)
It is my prayer that Nyssa's story will touch your heart and inspire you to live out your faith and fulfill Jesus's command in John 15.
