Released in 1988 as visionary cyber punk set in 2019, thirty years later it all feels eerily relevant.

Andrew speculates Neo-Tokyo represents the internet, while Luke relates it to the dream world or "astral." The highways and seedy nightclubs representing the coatrooms and imageboards scattered across the net where information legal or otherwise is traded freely under the shadow of anonymity.

We discuss, the relationship between Tetsuo's rise to power and the average user's temptation toward fascism.

Lastly, we touch on the curious parallels between MK-Ultra and the Akira project as presented in the film.
