Amy Courts is a singer-songwriter, musician, writer, activist, and Seminarian based in Minneapolis, MN where she lives with her husband and son. Amy grew up in Denver, CO the youngest of four preacher's daughters and, after graduating in 2003 with her B.A. in Biblical Studies, moved to Nashville, TN where she independently produced and released two albums and toured with Jennifer Knapp and Derek Webb. After a near-death childbirth experience in 2011, she and her family moved to Minneapolis where she spent the next five years as a stay-home mom, worship leader, and singer-for-hire. In 2017, after a six year hiatus from creating and performing original music, she and her husband fulfilled a decade-long dream of co-creating and -producing a collaborative album as the duo Fireworks on Ferris Wheels for which they enjoyed critical acclaim and indie radio success. Amy also performs in a number of Twin Cities based bands, including with world-renowned guitarist Billy McLaughlin as part of Simple Gifts and Young and the Rest. In the fall of 2018, Amy was offered a full-ride scholarship to Luther Seminary in St. Paul, MN where she is currently earning her Master of Divinity in Justice & Reconciliation while working with numerous local arts-based, humanitarian, religious, and para-church organizations to address systemic injustices against marginalized communities through musical, theological, and political activism centered on economic, environmental, healthcare, and education justice.
