Yeah ok so there isn't any E3 and people keep saying to me "it isn't E3" but look, SEO knows what E3 is, you know what E3 is, I'm reclaiming E3 from the ESA because they suck. Anyway we talk about "not E3" and make predictions.

You know the hardest thing about titling episodes is when most of the episode is about something you know people won't click on because SEO juice and what not. Like Ristar is a cool game and we have a good discussion about it but nobody ain't clicking on that. So I have to lead with "Open World F-Zero" in the title. Like yeah we talk about that, but only for like 5 minutes. But hey brains are dumb so you probably clicked on this because of the F-Zero. No I'm not calling you dumb, I'm calling your brain dumb. There is a difference. Trust me. I should know. My brain is real dumb.

So like do the animals in animal crossing know that I haven't been there for months? Does it weigh on their digital consciousness? I used to think that as a kid. You know that the animals actually kept existing in their digital prison while I wasn't there. It was fine of course, they didn't know it. Kind like Plato's cave you know. You don't know what you don't know, ignorance is bliss, et al etc. I wonder what it would be like to be an NPC. Probably bad I imagine. Probably not as bad as that movie with Ryan Reynolds about and NPC. Which I haven't seen to be clear. It could be a masterpiece. Anyway, maybe they miss me and I should go back, haven't been in a while.

Metroid Dread is real. It's REAL. A video game. You can play it. Why aren't you playing it right now? Why are you reading this podcast description instead of basking in the warm glow, the shining bliss, the godly rays of Metroid Dread. Metroid Dread is that feeling you get on a cold winter's night huddled up to the fire. It's the sweet smell of honey on an autumn breeze, the taste of melted butter on a fresh piece of toast. Metroid Dread exists and so do you. Let's talk about it.

Hey there it is me, Nbz. I don't know if anyone reads the description or not. I think most people just look at the timestamps and don't actually read the little thing I write here? Should I stop doing it? I don't know. I kinda like writing it but I also don't know if its worth writing. Anyway this episode has some video games like Eastward which is very good and Toem which is also good and Flynn: Son of Crimson which is quite good. Then we talk about that Nintendo Direct where they talk about Chris Pratt being Mario for some reason. Oh also Bayonetta 3 and a 3D Kirby game. Wild stuff people. Truly wild. Anyway if you did read this then contact me or email the show and let me know if you care about it, and if no one does then I think I'll just start leaving timestamps here. Anyway have a nice day and I hope you enjoy the episode.

Hey folks, we're back! It's been a while since we recorded so we have a ton to talk about, including Nintendo's latest release WarioWare: Get It Together that we've both been playing and enjoying. Bally and Nbz have also been diving deep into Axiom Verge 2, the follow up to the cult classic Metroidvania and have a lot of good things to say about it. Nbz meanwhile finally finished the behemoth of a game that is The Great Ace Attorney 2: Resolve, one which he thinks holds up as a series best, and we close things out with a quick chat about What The Dub, a ridiculous party game that is excellent for stag weekends. After the break we answer your emails about the Game Boy games we want to see come to Switch Online as well as ranking the sales potential of Nintendo's releases for the end of the year. We finish things up with a discussion about how much we spend on video games and the price of the hobby in general, spurred on by a supposed price drop that the Switch is getting in Europe.

Hey everyone! Apologies if this episode sounds out of date, that's because it is! We recorded this one a while ahead of release because Bally was getting married. However we still got plenty of games to talk about, including Pokemon Legends Arceus and the new footage shown in a recent Pokemon Presents showcase - it's definitely growing on us. Nbz meanwhile has been puzzling around in Lego Builders Journey, a branded game with a heart of gold, while Bally has played through the short but sweet adventure Florence on Switch. Nbz has also been taking an RPG history lesson with Soul Blazer, an oft forgotten game from Quintet, the creators of Act Raiser, and begins his journey in playing all three games in the "Quintet Trilogy." After the break we take some of your emails about how our thoughts have evolved on games since we played them and what are the best video game romantic match ups that we can concoct.

We're back baby and its time for video games. We kick things off with a chat about the latest Indie World Showcase from Nintendo and how it might be one of the best ones yet with shadow drops and release dates aplenty. Nbz gives his very early impressions of one of those shadow dropped games - Axiom Verge 2, before both Bally and Nbz wax lyrical about surprise hit Dodgeball Academia! It's a Sports RPG meets Pokemon meets My Hero Academia and is wonderful. After the break we dive into some of your emails talking about small team indie developers as well as how Nintendo can create more experimental entries in their most beloved series.

Hey everyone! We're back, this time with a much shorter show than last time, but not to say that we don't have plenty to talk about. Nbz kicks things off with The Legend of Zelda: Skyward Sword HD, marking the first time in 10 years that he has revisited this classic. Bally and Nbz have both been checking out Death's Door, the recently released isometric action game from Devolver and Acid Nerve. Nbz has also started on The Great Ace Attorney Chronicles as this beloved series makes a grand return, meanwhile Bally has been playing Part Time UFO a cool little puzzle game from HAL, the creators of Kirby and TNL favourite Box Boy! Nbz closes out with a trio of games in Jelly Boy, Flatland Vol. 2 and Gunstar Super Heroes. Phew that was a lot of video games. After the break we hit up the email inbox and answer questions on game words that we mispronounce and whether fans should worry about games selling well.

It's finally here! We've made it to 200 episodes, and boy do we have a beefy show for you. We kick things off with what we've been playing, where Bally talks about the charming Zelda-like Chicory, a game where you paint your way through colourless world. Meanwhile Nbz has been hitting the classics once more, playing the original Doom on Switch! After the break we dive into our main event, making a list of our Top 50 Nintendo games of all time. It is a long discussion that was a lot of fun and we hope you enjoy listening. It should be noted that we recorded this episode quite early in advance so there isn't any chatter about the Switch OLED, but we will definitely be talking about it in the future. Hey folks, we're back! Its getting close to the big 200 but first we must talk about the big Nintendo game of the moment with Mario Golf: Super Rush. Both Nbz and Bally have been playing it and certainly have a lot of thoughts to deliver. Nbz has also been playing the latest Smash Bros character with Kazuya Mishima from the Tekken series, as well as taking a brief look at Pokémon Unite from the Japanese e-shop. After the break we tackle some of your emails on Nintendo and Politics as well as making a tough choice of which Nintendo franchise to bring back (for a price).

Hey everyone! We're back with a regular old episode, though Nbz is coughing up a storm the show must go on! Bally kicks things off with another Zelda ticked off the list, The Legend of Zelda: Oracle of Ages. Nbz meanwhile has been playing a late 3DS release, the forgotten Ever Oasis from Grezzo. After the break we come back to chat a bit more about E3, what we saw at Nintendo's Treehouse streams and our thoughts on Nintendo trying to ban co-streaming of the event.

Hey everyone! It's almost that time of the year again when we finally hear about all the big new video games that Nintendo are cooking up, and we're here to prepare you all for the E3 showcase! But first we have some games to discuss. Both Bally and Nbz have been checking out The Wild At Heart, an indie take on Pikmin that is delightful. Nbz has also finished up the second Famicom Detective Club game, The Girl Who Stands Behind. After the break it is time to get into the E3 spirit by laying down some Nintendo predictions for the show and speculating about what they will announce, before closing with some listener predictions!

Hey folks! We're back with more podcasting and more Nintendo chat. Nbz kicks things off with Nintendo's newest, hottest release...a remake from the 1980s with Famicom Detective Club! He discusses the first game, The Missing Heir, and how it feels both modern and archaic in equal measure. Bally meanwhile checks in with Abzu, a relaxing underwater game from a few years ago. Nbz closes out the segment with Ori & The Will of the Wisps on Switch and implores everyone to go buy it as it is on sale. After the break we answer your emails on the Nintendo consoles we own and what will happen when the Switch eShop shuts down, before closing things out with a discussion on Giant Bomb's recent departures and reminiscing about our memories from the site.

Hey everyone! We're back with plenty of games and a beefy backlog club. We kick things off with a round up of the Indie World event from a couple of weeks ago alongside our impressions of Aerial Knight's Never Yield demo. Nbz brings Toree 3D to the table a cheap and cheerful e-shop platformer, meanwhile Bally has been playing an all time classic in Mark of the Ninja! Nbz closes out what we've been playing with Rain on your Parade and Record of Lodoss War: Deedlit in Wonder Labyrinth (he apologises for murdering everyone's ears with these absurd game titles). After the break it is time to dig in with Paper Mario on N64! We talk about every aspect of the game imaginable with help from comments that you sent in! Hey everyone! We're back and ready to talk video games. Nbz kicks things off this time with early thoughts on Cozy Grove, a delightful little life sim game in the vein of Animal Crossing. He has also been playing BOXBOY + BOXGIRL returning to one of Nintendo's most underrated series. The boys then discuss their time with It Takes Two a game that isn't on a Nintendo console but is absolutely bursting with Nintendo DNA. Hey everyone! This week we have a big Nintendo exclusive to talk about with Paper Mario The Origami King. Despite all the controversy, Nbz is pretty positive on the experience so far and has a lot to praise. Meanwhile Bally and Nbz both played through reverse horror Metroidvania Carrion, a game in which you play the role of a huge disgusting monster rolling around and devouring scientists in your wake. After the break we break down your e-mails including a game testing our gaming knowledge of each other as well as how we can set our expectations for presentations like the recent Nintendo Direct Mini. Hey everyone! We're back and in the home stretch towards the end of the year! That means the video games are happening, none moreso than Luigi's Mansion 3. Bally kicks things off with INK, a podcast favourite from a few years ago that can best be described as the love child of Super Meat Boy and Splatoon. Nbz follows up with discussion of his second Fire Emblem Three Houses run, and how he's been blasting through repeated sections at the gym. He also fell down the hole that is Slay the Spire and waxes lyrical about this rogue like card game that is easily one of the best games of the year. We come back after the break to talk about our mentality for actually getting ourselves to play through lots of video games and how Nintendo is positioning themselves for the blue ocean market with the Switch. We then jump into our discussion topic for the show, Switch ports, their history and their future! With Witcher 3 and Overwatch on the platform we've hit a major milestone in terms of the possibilities for the platform so we take a look back at how we got here.

Nbz meanwhile picked up Platinum's latest Switch exclusive, Astral Chain and has some early thoughts about it. He also played through 2 big indie games that have been talked about in the Switch sphere for a little while, namely Ape Out and Yoku's Island Express. After the break we pick up with some of your e-mails, first discussing if playing a lot of a game in a short period of time affects our enjoyment and then having a fun chat about what Scottish references there will be in Pokemon Sword and Shield. We close things out chatting about a bit of news including the recent Indie World direct and rumours about Overwatch on Switch.

Hey everyone! It has finally come back around as we have hit another milestone with Episode 150! You know what that means! But first we have some new games to talk about. Bally closes out thoughts on Pokemon Sun, a game which has haunted him for years. He also checks back in with 20 hours of Fire Emblem progress and is getting to grips with it. Nbz meanwhile has unexpectedly been playing another recent Switch release - Dragon Quest Builders 2, as well as dipping into Game Pass on PC with Sunset Overdrive! After the break it is time to rank the best Nintendo games of all time in a big old list! We debate, make deals and backstab each other in our quest to create a list of the Top 50 Games of All Time on Nintendo platforms! This is a behemoth, so thanks for listening if you make it all the way through! Thanks for sticking with us all these years, and here is to 150 more!
Hey everyone! It's a big week in Nintendo land as there is a new Fire Emblem game to talk about! Nbz and Bally kick off the show with a VERY long dicussion on Nintendo's latest entry in their flagship strategy RPG series. From Monastery exploration to class decisions, they cover all they can. They also talk about their time co-oping their way through Blazing Chrome, a very good Contra style game that came out recently. They also had some time with the latest Smash Bros DLC character, Hero from the Dragon Quest series. Nbz closes out game discussion with his thoughts on the very challenging Picnic Panic DLC for The Messenger. After the break we answer you e-mails including questions about series that we previously had no interest in that then went on to be games we loved and what video game misconceptions we had when we were younger. He also checks in with some Star Wars VR, takes the stage for his Kingdom Hearts minute and closes thoughts on Steam World Quest. Nbz meanwhile has been in the Game Pass afterglow and has been checking out a bunch of games on the service, including Super Lucky's Tale (which is headed to Switch), Forza Horizon 4 and finally The Gardens Between. But that's not all folks, as Nbz backed Bloodstained Ritual of the Night years ago he finally gets his hands in the game and is more impressed that he expected to be! Hey everyone! It's the most wonderful time of the year yet again, E3 is finally just round the corner, and we've engaged the hype train with an early episode! This week we kick things off with chat about the most recent Pokemon Direct for Sword and Shield and our thoughts about how the game is turning out! We then get into some games that have taken our fancy recently, including Bally finally checking out Labo VR and then chatting about the lastest little Metroid style game on the e-shop Gato Roboto, which Nbz has also played! After discussing all things Meowtroid, Nbz finally talks about a game he's been chipping away at for months, Sushi Striker: Way of the Sushido! It's a weird wacky game that Nintendo don't make enough of anymore. After the break we dig into the real meat of the show which is our E3 predictions for Nintendo! There are some safe and not so safe ideas we have about what could happen at the show, but I guess we're just going to have to wait and see! Hey everyone, this week we have a bit of a mish mash of a show for you! We kick things off with a brief what we've been playing covering some smaller games. Bally talks about Golf Peaks, a neat little puzzle game he picked up with gold coins on the Switch e-shop. Nbz has also been using some My Nintendo coins and grabbed Splash or Crash for 3DS, a game about dropping a stone down a well. After this we answer an email about spoilers in video games and the culture around spoilers generally. When we come back from the break we break down the latest news about Mario Maker 2 from the 15 minute direct, before chatting about Detective Pikachu and all our thoughts on the debut Pokemon movie. We do end up talking spoilers, so when we get to that point, skip to 1:32:00 in the podcast to avoid them!

Hey everyone! We're finally back after Bally's trip to Japan and BOY do we have a lot of video games to talk about. We kick things off with Cuphead, which came out on Switch recently and accompanied Bally on his trip to Japan. He waxes lyrical about this captivatingly difficult action platformer. Then we hop over to Nbz to discuss Katana Zero, another recent Switch Indie that you should all be paying attention to. Bally then wraps up a game that has been in his backlog for a while with Fire Emblem Fates: Conquest, perhaps the hardest Fire Emblem game he's played. Nbz finally ticks another Zelda game off his list with Oracle of Seasons and also chats about his first experience with Nintendo Labo and the VR kit that came out for it! After the break we discuss some of your e-mails including Indie RPG and Zelda-like recommendations as well as which Smash Bros character would come out on top if they were to legitimately fight to the death.

Hey everyone! As we mentioned on the last episode of the show, we would be putting up one of our bonus episodes from Patreon this week for you all to take a listen to and get a taste of what we do as extras for the show! We recorded this episode over a year ago when Nbz was visiting Bally in Brussels and therefore the sound quality is a bit worse than usual, as we are both using one microphone, but the discussion was really fun and we thought you'd enjoy listening to this one the most! We will be back next week with the regular show, but hopefully you enjoy this in the meantime as a bonus! If you want more like this, head over to our Patreon where you can get all the TNL Ranks episodes for $2!

Hey folks, I know its not Nintendo but Bally and I wanted to have a discussion about the latest God of War after finishing it so we thought some of you may want to hear that! Beware of course, there are spoilers throughout this whole thing so steer clear if you ever intend to play this game! Otherwise we'll be back next week with a regular episode, but we hope you enjoy this bonus episode!
Hey everyone! This week we may as well be called This Playstation Life as Bally goes where no Nintendo fan has gone before and bought a PS4 to join the dark side! Both he and Nbz have been playing the newest God of War on it and discuss the difference between game design in Sony narrative games vs Nintendo's more mechanics driven approach. Bally also played through Owlboy on Switch, a gorgeous 2D indie Metroid (kinda?) game, meanwhile Nbz beat one of the greats (or so they say) Super Mario World! After the break we answer your questions about Nintendo's new President, Furukawa before closing out the show with the return of the Jukebox, where Nbz tests Bally with 5 new game songs!

He is an expert in the art of unreleased video games, and we have a great discussion with him about them, but first we discuss what we've been playing! Bally continues his platformer education with Rayman Legends on Wii U and has postive early impressions. Liam hasn't had much time to play games, but brings discussion on Rare Replay and Bayonetta 2. Bally has finally and somewhat unbelievably finished Xenoblade Chronicles. The end may have been a slog, but he did it! We then discuss the single player of Splatoon and its merits, before Nbz writes a love letter to The Witcher 3 which is a big challenger for his game of the year. After the break we dive into E3 mania! We kick off by reviewing our predictions from last year, before moving onto making new ones. Hey everyone, welcome back to the show! This week we recorded early as Nbz has exams, but there is still plenty to talk about. First up Bally and Nbz discuss the new Mario Kart 8 DLC! 200cc is way faster than they expected and they are having a great time with the new DLC. Bally has also started a Zelda classic that Nbz beat last year, A Link To The Past! He is overall very positive and will hopefully have finished it by next time. Closing out Bally's segment he played through the iOS game Nbz brought up on the last show, namely Monument Valley. Nbz then addresses his frustrations playing through Xeodrifter, a Metroid style game that didn't quite hit the mark. He closes out what we have been playing by endorsing Chrono Trigger even more than last time, it may be one of the best games he has ever played! After the break we dive into some more e-mails, with a very heavy focus on JRPG's before closing out the show with a discussion about games and sports. Should we treat games as sports? When will games gain mainstream acceptance? All these questions and more in our final segment. Remember to send all your correspondence to our E-mail Address: [email protected]
This week on the show, Nbz and Bally are reeling from an incredible performance at the Legend of Zelda Symphony, but more of that later! First up we talk about the games we've been playing, kicking it off with an e-shop gem, Box Boy! You mean to tell me that HAL makes games which don't feature Kirby? Yep that's right, and this awesome little puzzle platformer that both Nbz and Bally have been playing makes a case for them straying from the pink blob far more often. Bally also checks in with some progress on Xenoblade Chronicles 3D which he is making good headway in. Nbz then talks a little about playing with Mewtwo in Smash Bros, before moving on to the classic JRPG, Chrono Trigger, which he feels holds up remarkably well. Finally Nbz closes out what we've been playing with Monument Valley, a short but amazing iOS game! Yes I know, Nbz does play games on phones sometimes! After the break we bring you our live recording from the Zelda symphony, where we give all of our impressions about the event. We then close out the show with some listener mail, including a question asking about what games we would take back in time and show to people of the NES era! Remember to send all your correspondence to our E-mail Address: [email protected]
Strap yourselves in everyone, its a long show this week, and for good reason! This week we have a guest, namely Jon from the Nintenshow podcast to add a different perspective to all things Nintendo. We start the show by talking about what games we've been playing recently, including OlliOlli, Elliot Quest, Fire Emblem, Metroid Prime 3: Corruption, Persona 4 Golden and Xenoblade Chronicles 3D! I told you it was a long one! After discussing these many titles we come back after the break to answer one e-mail regarding the Club Nintendo rewards in North America before transitioning to our retrospective on the Nintendo DS, where we talk launch stories, favourite games and titles we'd love to see released on the DS Virtual Console. There isn't any discussion about the Zelda delay or the latest Nintendo Direct, but if you head on over to Nbz's youtube channel you'll find 2 videos where we break down both of those big stories! Remember to send all your correspondence to our E-mail Address: [email protected]

Bally continues his journey through Fire Emblem 7 which seems to be getting close to the end, and then is very positive on Donkey Kong Country Returns 3D. Nbz seems to have found an early GOTY contender with Ori and the Blind Forest, a Metroid inspired game that is gorgeous and great to play at the same time. Nbz also knocks another game off his backlog with Mega Man 3, and it may be the hardest game he's ever beaten! After the break we answer some of the e-mails we have left from the old account, and finally we close out the show discussing the recent Nintendo news regarding the NX and Mobile games! Please do listen till the end as we urge you to go ahead and review us on iTunes. Doing it now is more important than ever as we launch this re-brand! Nbz is sticking to his promise of 2015 being the year of Castlevania, as the first GBA game (Circle of the Moon) was released on the e-shop. After the break we dive into some listener mail (but we always need more!) and finally we finish things off with a return to the Jukebox segment! Remember to send all your correspondence to our E-mail Address: [email protected]
Another fortnight, another podcast! This week Bally dons his helmet and starts pea shooting in the Capcom classic Mega Man 2! He liked the game, which is more than he can say for most NES titles. Both Bally and Nbz have been playing the demo for Codename S.T.E.A.M. and their ambivalence has been quelled by this meaty taste test, its pretty great! Nbz has also been playing the sequel to 2013's Gunman Clive, Gunman Clive 2! Moreover thanks to a kind listener he's played Middle Earth Shadow of Mordor on PC. This will be a long one, so expect more updates on it in the future. Its Zelda, Zelda, Zelda this week as we break down all our thoughts on A Link Between Worlds!
Apologies for the change in audio quality at the end. Bally's mic had this horrible popping during his final segment, so I had to pull in the Skype audio instead which is why the quality drops. Hopefully we won't have any problems like this next time!
Let us know what you think by reviewing us on iTunes, and be sure to send us any relevant listener mail so that we can have a segment answering it next time. Thanks for listening!
