48 min • 18 juli 2023
The Drake Equation predicts a universe full of life, but it's incomplete. Dr. Robert Zubrin discusses re-emergent civilizations, interstellar colonization, and offers a compelling explanation for the Fermi Paradox. Dr. Robert Zubrin is an aerospace engineer, author, startup founder, and well-known advocate for human exploration of Mars. He's the founder & President of Pioneer Astronautics, an aerospace R&D company developing new space-access technologies, and founder of Pioneer Energy, developing new energy extraction technologies here on Earth, but he is perhaps best known as the founder of the Mars Society, a nonprofit that advocates for human exploration and colonization of Mars. Dr. Zubrin holds a B.A. in Mathematics from the University of Rochester, an M.S. in Nuclear Engineering, M.S. in Aeronautics and Astronautics and a Ph.D. in Nuclear Engineering from the University of Washington, has authored of over 200 published technical and non-technical papers and 7 books, and is the co-developer of "Mars Direct", a critically-acclaimed strategy for Martian exploration capable of reducing costs to 1/8th that estimated by NASA. Dr. Zubrin has won numerous awards, holds multiple patents, and has been featured in print publications including The Economist, New York Times, Boston Globe, London Times, Washington Post, Fortune Magazine, Newsweek, Air and Space Smithsonian, Popular Science and Space News, along with televised appearances on the Discovery Channel, CNN, NPR, and the BBC.
