Sai Teja Peddineni - Veera Tardigrade Clothing Insulation

31 min • 10 juni 2022
We’re joined by Sai Teja Peddineni, the CEO at Veera Advanced Research. Peddineni is India’s first and only volcano climber, which inspired him to begin developing a next-generation clothing insulation to withstand the extreme temperatures that he encounters. He began doing materials R&D with physicist in 2018, which led to multiple breakthroughs as they developed the final product – the “Veera Tardigrade clothing insulation system”, a remarkable type of temperature-proof protective clothing that also masks the wearer’s heat signature. The Veera Tardigrade clothing insulation system is a new, lightweight material that incorporates carbon-nanotubes and other propertary materials into a fabric ranging from 0.5mm to 3mm in thickness, and it protects the wearer from a range of temperatures from -200° degrees to 1000° Centigrade. In this interview, we'll be demonstrating 3 different video clips that showcase the remarkable properties of this new material. First, you'll see Peddineni literally pour molten copper onto his arm, while remaining completely protected by this insulation. Next, we'll show him being doused with a stream of liquid nitrogen over his head and shoulders, again remaining fully protected. Finally, you'll see a demonstration of Peddineni cloaking himself from an Infrared (IR) camera as he pulls an insulating garment over his body.
