Hannah Upp is an American who was last seen alive in 2017 in the U.S. Virgin Islands, following a hurricane. Hannah’s vehicle was found in a beach parking lot and her belongings were found on the sand. It appears on the surface that Hannah may have gotten into trouble after going swimming in stormy conditions.
However, this is the THIRD time that Hannah has been missing. She was missing for weeks in New York City before she was found sunburned and floating in the Hudson River, with no memory of where she had been. On the second occasion, Hannah came to in a dirty creek in Wheaton, Maryland. She remembered her mother’s phone number and asked a stranger to call for help.
Before vanishing for a third time, Hannah was diagnosed with dissociative fugue - a temporary state where a person has memory loss (amnesia) and ends up in an unexpected place. People with this symptom can't remember who they are or details about their past. Other names for this include a "fugue” or a “fugue state.”
Could Hannah Upp be alive and in a fugue state, not knowing who she is, almost 6 years later?
In this episode of the True Crime Society Podcast, we discuss the strange case of missing woman Hannah Upp.
