Brought to you by FUNKNSTUFF.NET and hosted by Scott "DR GX" Goldfine — musicologist and author of “Everything Is on THE ONE: The First Guide of Funk” ― “TRUTH IN RHYTHM” is the interview show that gets DEEP into the pocket with contemporary music’s foremost masters of the groove.

Featured in TIR Episode 151 (Part 1 of 2): Drummer Don Juan Martin, also known as Tiger Martin. On stage and on record during the 1960s and 1970s, he provided the deep pocket rhythms for funk and R&B legends like James Brown & the JB’s, Marva Whitney, Hank Ballard, Bobby Byrd, Bootsy Collins and the Spinners.

Through the years some confusion and misinformation has circulated about who played what on particular J.B. and Bootsy tracks, and so here Martin seeks to set the record straight. He pulls no punches in a somewhat controversial TIR episode. There are sides to the stories shared here that most have never heard before.
