Joining Prince during the 1996 Emancipation album and Jam of the Year Tour, Smith recorded and performed with Prince until 2009, as well as several associated acts. She has also spent more than 10 years recording and performing with Beck, one of the greatest guitar players and innovators of all time. She has also worked with many other well known artists and released a pair of solo albums.
