Brought to you by FUNKNSTUFF.NET and hosted by Scott Goldfine — musicologist and author of “Everything Is on the One: The First Guide of Funk” (get your copy at Amazon) ― “TRUTH IN RHYTHM” is the interview show that gets DEEP into the pocket with contemporary music’s foremost masters of the groove.

Featured in Episode 132 (Part 2 of 2): PRN Alumni Foundation President Jacqui Thompson. That organization’s initials stand for Prince Rogers Nelson, who Thompson worked for as a project facilitator during the mid to late 1990s. That included assisting in distribution for NPG Records albums by Chaka Khan and Larry Graham.

Founded in 2017, the PRN Alumni Foundation is comprised of former Prince and Paisley Park associates with the mission to continue Prince’s generosity in supporting opportunities for underprivileged youth to grow in music, technology, arts and education, as well as help alumni members in need.

Here, Thompson retells myriad tales about her whirlwind years working for Prince and Paisley Park. In particular, she sheds light on a enigmatic period for Prince when he chose an unpronounceable symbol for his name and turned the traditional music industry on its head. She also discusses an upcoming PRN Foundation concert event.
