In nearly every zombie movie the military moves in to bomb and burn population centers wherein most of the ‘infected’ roam about. Be it The Walking Dead or The Last of Us, or a virus, bacterium, or fungus. But this never ends an outbreak, and it could be argued that the military makes the matter worse by killing civilians and destroying infrastructure. We can find an analogy to this within the way we treat the body and illness every day; bomb the body to stop an illness and ultimately cause more devastation. There is also a strange parallel between ancient priestly classes, who were often scientists, using fear and sacrifice to control the population by cutting out the heart, and how modern disease treatments target the heart - recently making it swell to the point of death. In fact, most diseases are as fictional in nature, based on exaggeration, fear, and dramatization, as are the former zombie movies. All of the coverage in both the mainstream and alternative media keeps us in a state of gast, terrified and confused.
