A photo from the post-assassination attempt of former President Trump is going viral because it is apparently slightly doctored so that secret service agents appear to be smirking. This should again make us question what is real, fake, or just slightly edited. The real can easily become fake and the latter the former. This is true for politics, news, and especially history now that the ‘history is not real’ conspiracy has continued to grow. Voice mirroring and deepfake can make anyone say or do anything at any time, while the question of authenticity is debated for better or worse. We’ve learned recently that Google wants to wipe old parts of the internet and that much of social media and the internet as a whole is actually run by sock puppets, bots, and general AI creating perpetual feedback loops and allowing for the most influential agents to be weaponized and hired for specific forms of influence. The propaganda, disinformation, misinformation, gas lighting, fakery, etc., has become so common place that we are lost and vacant of any answers, perceptive or context on reality.
