Ana Antonova presents (https://soundcloud.com/anantonova) United We Rise Podcast Nr. 079 🗯🗯 What are you missing the most since March 2020? 🗯🗯 I miss playing in front of the people, full floors and energy of the venue/club. I miss that positive stage frigt or jitters you get 15 min before your time slot. In April 2020, I had a first "big" label release for Get Physical and their EP series "Croatia Gets Physical", they always drop a party in Croatia for that occasion, with artists from EP including labelhead Roland Leesker, I was a bit saddened when I realised that, that wouldn't happened and really sad that any other party is questionable in near future. That was a moment when I perceived that some other times have come upon us. I hope that will change soon. 🗯🗯 Did your approach on creating music change during the pandemic and did it maybe even influence your style? 🗯🗯 I used play very energetic sets in the clubs or festivals particularly, deep, progressive, sometimes on the edge with techno with lower BPMs, but always with lot of groove and surprises in mixing and drops. Music I've made from March 2020 'till today is more for relaxing time or after hours, than for a peak hour. I went the other way - minimal, ro-minimal even with a touch of micro house. A good example is my track "Extragalactic" - the closing track in mix I've made for you (UWS Podcast). I've must admit to you, that I think a lot about future gigs that I'm already booked for this summer, what will I play, will my sound in front of the ravers get back? Will I sound the same as I used to? 🗯🗯 What’s your history with music in general and DJ-ing especially? 🗯🗯 I'm educated in classical guitar, my grandfather was a composer and conductor, the whole family is involved in music as composers, arrangers, solo artists, choir conductors, professor lecturers in music schools... etc., So the music is always big part of our (my) life(s). I had an interest of selecting music since I remember, "destroying" old cassettes an recording new music over them. I used to make mixtapes for my friends for some special occasions. Then I've found out that you can play music from two different players/turntables and blend music together through mixer. But when I was a kid buying an equipment was a "quite a bite" for a family budget, so I waited for a few years. When I've managed to save money from summer job. I finally bought a pair of CDJ 500, but didn't have money for mixer, so I borrowed it from a bar that is closed during winter. I remember coming home and cleaning it thoroughly, they didn't recognise it when I returned it, their first thought was that, that's not theirs. Considering that I live on one of the largest Croatian island: Krk, there was a lot of opportunity to make deal for summer residency, so I officially started in 2005. I've made a big break between 2008. and 2013. when I started again, but my sound was different, more underground. In 2015. I won the newcomer contest at "ILLECTRICITY" Festival in Zagreb and I got a chance to open main night for Emika (Ema Jolly).
