Robine (https://soundcloud.com/robinedj) United We Rise Podcast Nr. 099 🗯🗯 How would you describe your style? 🗯🗯 I would describe my style as emotional and energetic. It is melancholic and yet hopeful. I love these driving basslines with big dramatic breakdowns. When I play my sets I'm aiming for everyone to dance with happy tears in their eyes :’) 🗯🗯 Did you gain something positive from this time with Corona? 🗯🗯 I did gain something positive. As the club closed down I spent more time developing my music production skills. I set up a routine where I would write music on daily basis and I've since then been working on my sound and making and releasing music since the start of Corona. 🗯🗯 What’s your history with music in general and DJ-ing especially? 🗯🗯 I grew up in a musical home where we would dance to Phil Collins and Diana Ross in the living room. My mum worked as the door hostess at the hippest Stockholm night club and was even working there pregnant with me. So I kinda was born surrounded by music, I guess. When I was 8 I took piano classes and even exams in front of a panel of judges, but realised that being judged in music was not for me. The next time I was being judged for my music was when I entered a DJ competition in Stockholm in front of a panel of judges (including Pleasurekraft). This was, too say the least, nerve-wrecking. But I prepared well (with help from my mentor Studio 54 DJ ) and I won the competition. This led to me quit my job at Spotify and move to Barcelona to focus on music. While in Barcelona I helped out the local techno hero Sergio Patricio ("the man who brought techno to Barcelona"). I was also resident DJ at one of the most infamous after-hours bars, Jesus house. I worked 5-10am 4-5 days a week. Those were some times... At ADE Amsterdam, I got to know Robosonic. He helped me in making my decision to move to Berlin and let me be part of his crew. I now live in Berlin since four years. I play at most of the big clubs in Berlin (Sisyphos, Kater Blau, Ritter Butzke and KitKat). Unfortunately now the clubs are going into yet another lockdown (I am writing this while at home with Corona…), but I will make lemonade from the lemon we’re being given and use the winter to make music instead.
