RoundRack on Pushing Material Innovation within Brands

27 min • 2 maj 2022

Material innovation is coming to a fore in recent years with new materials that are now ready to use in a variety of ways for fashion brands. Orange, cactus, spider silk, flowers and more are slowly being used in fashion products, but for many brands it can still be confusing on which fabric to use for which scenario. Not only are there the traditional fabric properties to consider, but now also the science behind it all. Choosing incorrectly can affect a product’s impact credentials, meaning potentially going against a brand’s sustainability values and intentions.

Enter RoundRack, a new platform that helps brand to manage material innovation projects. Co-founder Arie Katz chats with hosts Von Ruzive and Peter Jeun Ho Tsang on how he came up with the idea for the platform. Along with his co-founder Alessia Gotti, RoundRack is learning what is needed to make the startup successful, from keeping the product simple through to how to speak to the technophobe fashion industry. This episode we hear about Arie’s founder journey so far and his tips for other fashion tech founders.
